Allure Chicago Cast

Recommended Posts

When the Allure of the Seas leaves Port Everglades today at 5PM, cast 2 of Chicago will be putting to sea for their last week. Cast 3 took over their Blue Planet roles last week and after 3 more performances of Chicago, a Summer Breeze set and one last backstage tour they'll be on their way home next Sunday. This cast has had an unusually long contract for RCI having reported to Hollywood, Fla for rehursals last April and they have been on the Allure since last May. They are a diverse group literally from all over the world and we were very happy to get to meet and know so many of them on two sailings last year when we visited our son Kenny who is one of them. If you've sailed on the Allure since last May you've seen them in Chicago and Blue Planet, enjoyed their singing during the 70s Disco night and Summer Breeze, spoken to them during a backstage tour, watched them during one of the parades or perhaps even checked in with them at your boat drill. Safe home all....Enjoy your time home guys, you deserve it and good luck in your next gig!!! See ya Sunday Kenny!!

Wow. I can't believe they're still on the ship! They were really great and one day when I was eating in Central Park, about 5 of them (the older guy, the three main girls in Chicago, and one of the background dancers) were sitting right next to me. I didn't talk to them, but it was very interesting to see them dressed in "normal people clothes" just walking around the ship. One of the girls had a parrot!

Yes, Cast 3 takes over in stages. Last Friday they debuted their Blue Planet, next week it's Chicago, and two weeks after Ocean Aria. It's a real procedure with the new cast spending their first two weeks on the ship working 12 mid to 8am on the shows and then having to do ship safety testing during the day.

How many casts are there? How long does a cast usually stay in a current rotation? Is this just a sabatical for this cast... IOW, will they be back again for another rotation or are they done with the Allure? Found this all very interesting... thanks for posting! And good luck to your son!

For some reason this was a longer than usual contract for an entertainment crew. Cast one was on the Allure for about 6 months which is more the norm. A few members of the cast were RCI allumni but for the majority this was their first time working on a cruise ship. Some will be back again but most won't. Next Sunday they will all head home to NY or England or Canada or Australia for a little R and R. Soon they will be auditioning while some already have new gigs that they are heading to around the world. Some may find themselves back on the Allure or another Royal Caribbean ship while others would die before they'd ship out again. National tours, summer stock, Las Vegas shows are where you'll likely find cast 2 in the next couple of months. Be they from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia or Timbucktoo thanks to their 11 months as cast 2 on the Allure of the Seas they now have friends from around the world.

I liked that cast in Chicago and Blue Planet. Do you know any of their names?

Which role did your son play in Chicago?

Our son is Amos Hart in Chicago and until last week was one of the two featured male singers in Blue Planet. He's also one of the six featured singers from Chicago who make up the cast of the Summer Breeze song set which was performed in the Aqua Theater for everyone towards the begining of their contract but more recently has been a part of a Diamond Presentation for C&A members.

I remember seeing him at the C&A behind the scenes tour, that cast really worked well together.

In fact, this week's C&A backstage tour is cast 2's last official act on the Allure....then it's off to home for them all. 11 months is a long time and I just realized that this Sunday will be the first time in 10+ months that he hasn't slept in a bed on a moving ship!!! Wonder how long till he gets his land legs back??

Cast 2 did their last performance of Chicago last night on the Allure of the Seas. One Summer Breeze set at the C&A event this week, and a back stage tour and they are done. Good luck to them all and to cast 3 as they take over and move into their "homes" Sunday!

The transition period on the Allure lasts about 4 to 5 weeks. The first two weeks the new crew signs on and lives in passenger cabins. They rehearse in the middle of the night on the main stage but still have to do the kinds of things that signing on new crew members do during the day (safety training etc). In week 3 they take over Blue Planet from the signing off crew (which happened last week) while still rehearsing the other shows. In week 4 the signing off crew does their last Chicago performances, Summer Breeze, Parades, and backstage tours and signs off the ship on Sunday and the new crew moves into their crew cabins and takes over all performances. After that, in the next week the Ocean Aria cast will also change and their crew will sign off.

Congrats to your son for a job well done. We enjoyed the shows on Allure very much. :)
