KevinsCruising Posted March 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Anyone know which side of the ship will be able to face the Dockyard in Bermuda ?????
njhorseman Posted March 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2012 No way to predict. Every time I guess, I guess wrong. ;) They change from week to week depending on the need to test lifeboats on a particular side or do other maintenance. I actually saw an NCL ship change the side it was docked on while it was in port (this wasn't in Bermuda, but it shows it can happen).
2Cruise4Ever Posted March 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2012 njhorseman is right. I've heard from cruisers who woke up in the morning in Bermuda only to find that they had switched around. If you want a guarantee, book a forward-facing or aft-facing cabin. That way you can look out and see both sides.
KevinsCruising Posted March 19, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted March 19, 2012 The life boat thing makes total sense. Sounds good. Thanks for the info.
modelman Posted March 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Views are quite pretty either way.. Dockyard Views of the North Shore and Grassy Bay
cathhduh Posted March 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2012 id rather have the ocean view, while bermuda is gorgeous, the dockyard is not what i think of when i think of waking up and looking at bermuda!
sailingnut Posted March 19, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2012 I had the dockyard view two times on the port side, one in "2009" and one in "2010"! But like everyone said, who knows! Happy sailing! Bermuda is beautiful!:)

js Posted March 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Wonderful pictures. Thank you. I asked this same question when I booked our Breakaway cabins for July 2013. Since we are docked for 3 days, I wanted a "Bermuda" view. But, after seeing the pictures, I don't care and will be happy to be on the Breakaway with great views no matter what side. Thanks so much! Barb Nahoumi Posted March 20, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Either view is great. Our cabin will be on deck four, practically at sea level. We might look out the window, & see jellyfish floating around.
RareBird Posted March 20, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 20, 2012 I have been to Bermuda countless times and sometimes we get dockyard view and sometimes ocean. both views are incredible. I preferred the dockyard but you can never guess which side of the ship sorry.
brucelegs Posted March 20, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Another question. Do they pull her in so the aft faces out to the ocean or back her in?
njhorseman Posted March 20, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Another question. Do they pull her in so the aft faces out to the ocean or back her in? That's the same question as whether it's docked with the port side facing the ocean or the starboard side, because Dockyard doesn't have "finger" piers that jut out into the water. The ships are docked liked a car parallel parked at the curb. If you're at Heritage Wharf, as NCL ships almost always are if the starboard side is facing Dockyard, the aft will be facing the ocean.
