Will be on Epic this June. Any idea what the payout table is for Three Card Poker Pair Plus bet? Also Do they have Double Double Bonus video poker machines, and if so any idea of its payout? Are they 25 cent, dollar,, etc? Finally, do they have triple play video poker machines?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I can only answer your first one:

Pair 1-1

Flush 3-1

Straight 6-1

Trips 30-1

Straight Flush 40-1

No extra mini royal payout, but there is a 50-1 on the 3 card bet on Let it Ride.

yes they have triple play poker machines, if I remember they were $.25 to $1.

Yes to ddb poker I want to say they were 6/5 machines but they may have been 7/5. The better game I thought was double bonus which were 9/5 machines.:)

Thank you both for your replies.

SuiteCruiser -I'm surprised the Three card Poker payout is that good for a cruise ship - may have to invest a lttle in that. Any idea if you can just make the Pair Plus bet -or do they require you to also place the ante bet?

aces389 - I haven't played double bonus, but if the odds are that much better I may have to give it a try! I've also wondered when you have a machime with odds like 6/5 if you should play your hands differently - if draw 2 pairs, say KK 44, do you keep the winning KK and toss the 44 since a full house pays so little and try for the 4 of a kind K's???

you cannot just play the pairs plus (at least not on the Sun). Also, you have to play the table minimum on the pairs plus bet also. Since the table minimum was $10, I would usually bet $10 on the ante, and $5 on the pairs plus. On the Sun, you have to play the table minimum on the pairs plus also, so I had to play $10 on it too.

I am not Suitecruiser, but on the Epic a few weeks ago, they were gladly allowing bets on Pair Plus alone. Half the table was playing this way.

Same here.

We were playing $5 on the pairs plus alone, on a second hand when the dealer was getting good cards. No issue. Not sure if you can just play the $5 pair plus without playing a second hand, but can't see why not.

We were on the Gem and they had 2 tables a $5 and a $10

There are subtle differences in the correct play for various paytables, and considerable differences in the correct play between DB and DDB. However, in both games, holding two pair has a higher expected return than holding only the high pair, in most (but not all) situations.

Using your example in DDB, holding the KK44 results in a expected value of 7.1277, while holding only the KK results in an expected value of 7.0826.

In DB, the expected value of the KK44 is 7.9787, while the EV of the KK alone is only 7.1869

The situation does change if the dealt cards are AA44, of course. Then the EV of holding only the two Aces is much higher, and holding the AA is the correct play.

My point is that it's far more important to know and use the correct play, and to stick with it, rather than playing the hunch that the KK "could" result in a higher payout of quads. You're already giving away so much when you play a bad paytable like 6/5 (with a return of only 94.66%) that you need to maximize your expected return for each and every hand.

Actually, 7/5 DDB pays slightly better (95.71%) than 9/5 DB (95.27%). However, 9/5 DB is indeed better than 6/5 DDB, which pays only 94.66%

Thanks VideoTech for your detailed explanation. As mentioned in an earlier post, I haven't played DB as I almnost always play DDB. I knew about holding the two pair in my example, just wonered if when the pay of a full house were lowered to 6, if the startegy I use on the DDB machines I typically play (9/6, 9/5 or if I have to 8/5) needed to be tweaked. Your response tells me to not change my startegy. Thanks again for the help!!
