turquoisesea Posted March 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2012 We would like to have a good steak in a nice restaurant on the Friday night before our cruise. Any suggestions? Is there anything on the water? Thank you for your help!

ragtiki2004 Posted March 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Shula's is really good, next to the Westin but across the street from the beach. Bob:)
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2012 Steak 954 in the W Hotel on Ft Lauderdale Beach Blvd. Classic steakhouse. Bring the Gold AmEx though:D Or try Truluck's on East Sunrise Blvd. Not a true steakhouse, but good steaks and good seafood. And great Mac N Cheese:)

royalcruz Posted March 28, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2012 IMO Steak 954 is the nicest waterfront steakhouse. I have heard that Rare on Las Olas is also excellent (not waterfront). If you haven't been to a good Brazilian steakhouse, Chima on Las Olas is very popular (not waterfront). Grill 66 (waterfront) at Hyatt Pier 66 is really nice too. I don't eat steak, so I can't tell you much more.

royalcruz Posted April 2, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Yea, Royalcruz is back! How was your cruise? What islands did you stop at? Bob:) Thank you! The Ruby Princess cruise was nice, great food, good entertainment but not the most fun crowd. We stopped at St Thomas, St Maarten, Grand Turk, and Princess Cay. It poured all day in St. Thomas and we don't do the private islands, but we had 2 nice island stops. Honestly, I'm happy just relaxing on the ship with a good read.:D
ragtiki2004 Posted April 2, 2012 #11 Share Posted April 2, 2012 Royalcruz, what did you do in St. Marten? I was just there about 3 weeks ago. We decided to do Mullet Bay after our snorkeling excursion was cancelled due to high winds and surf. Why was the crowd bad on your ship? Did they have a good kids program onboard? Bob We've done an island tour of St. M and have also done the America's Cup sailing race. This time we just walked around and had lunch at the beach downtown. The crowd wasn't bad at all...it just didn't feel like the most fun crowd when it came to getting into the entertainment and parties or interacting at the bars. In fact I've never seen the bars or casinos so underused. There were a lot of families so maybe that is why. Sorry, I don't know how the kids program is. FLAHAM Posted April 8, 2012 #14 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Take the water taxi to the Galleria mall and go to Capitol Grill Bring $$$. Higher priced than Ruth's Chris. Spelled "Capital Grill" (in case you're looking online).
SunshineOnTheBrain Posted April 9, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2012 There is also Chuck's Steakhouse on 17th St as well as Charlie's Crab on Oakland Park Blvd. Charlies Crab has phenomenal steak and seafood, overlooks the intercostal and if you dine on the deck...you will have one of the most spectacular sunsets this side of the Carribean! Charley's Crab is now Chart House. It is on NE 32nd Ave near Oakland Park Blvd. It opened about 2 yrs ago and still gets very mixed reviews on food and service. They must have closed right after the last time we were there...too bad my wife LOVED IT as did I. Thanks for the update!!! I grew up having Chuck's steak at least once everymonth when we lived on Las Olas. Last time I was down there we went by it..used to be very good. I assume that is still there! Yes, Chuck's is still both on SE 17th St and on Commercial Blvd east of US1. I don't think anything has changed there for at least 20 yrs including the decor and menu, lol (although the menu is no longer printed on a jug)! We loved Charley's too, in fact we went there on our first date so we were sad when it closed. Landry's acquired Charley's and still runs the Palm Beach location.
