Juneau Whale Watching

Anyone have any experience with Weather Permitting Alaska for a whale watch excursion? Was recommended to us but would like more opinions if anyone knows.

1st and 3rd recommended get lots of thumbs up. We used Orca, beside having to wait for the additional parties in our tour they were excellent!

I don't have any experience with Weather Permitting, I used Harv and Marv and they were great.

 

But Weather Permitting does have many favorable reviews on TripAdvisor, in fact they're rated #1 in Juneau tours!

But note that a lot of the reviews are from people who have only posted that one review - a red flag that the operator asks clients to post there to manipulate their ranking. Everyone, though, even people who post lots of reviews, gives them top marks.

They are also listed as Fodor's Choice in the Fodor's ALASKA 2012 book. We have chosen them for our Whale Watching excursion in June.

Well we had a wonderful experience with Weather Permitting and Captain Greg never once mentioned Tripadvisor to us. I have in fact given Weather Permitting several good reviews on this board as have others. Orca is certainly a good choice. We have done a tour with them. And I know Harv and Marv get good reviews here. But they are not the only good vendors in Juneau.

 

To the OP - I would not hesitate to recommend Captain Greg and Weather Permitting. My husband is a commercial fisherman here in California and he knows boats. He was extremely impressed by the stability, comfort and soundness of the Weather Permitting vessel. Very nice and very roomy for 6 passengers. And Captain Greg is a wonderful professional and extremely personable and knowledgeable. We had a stellar excursion with him seeing whales and so much more. The yummy brownies were just an extra added bonus. Believe the Tripadvisor reviews. They are accurate!

They use Allen Marine in all ports, using boats 20 times the size of most independents.
