RCI Baltic excursions

My husband and I are going on RCI Jewel of the Seas in July 2012. Both reasonably fit (late 20's). Can anyone recommend excursions or 'must do things'?

"Must see" is a totally subjective idea. I would suggest some reading on the Northern Europe Ports board, here:

we did the cruise last year, unfortunatley I was made redundant a few weeks before we sailed so some of the excursions we had planned were curtailed! Now in a new job so all OK!

 

Most of the Scandinavian ports we just went into the town and maybe went to a Museum or just took in the atmosphere.

 

In Stockholm we were going to do the Millenium (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo etc) tour from the ship (we were there on the Monday so the one run by the museum didn't run) unfortunately this tour was cancelled the night before, so we just visited the city and went to visit the Art Gallery.

In Copenhagen we went into the city, went on a local canal tour.

 

St Petersburg we booked a 2 day tour with DenRus, was awsome. We originally booked a private tour, but transfered to a cheaper group tour because of my redundancy.... there ended up just two couples on the tour so it was almost private at about a third of the cost.

 

In Tallin we went on a ship tour to visit a local farm and visit a local house which was very interesting. We dropped off in the city and walked round then back to the ship.

In Gothenburg we did the Volvo tour which included the Volvo Museum and best of all test drives in all the different Volvo cars, apart from St Petersburg this was probably the highlight of the cruise!

We did this same itinerary Aug '09 on the JOS and had no trouble DIY and using HOHO buses and boats and ship offerd shuttle buses in all ports...With the exception of St Petersburg..we used TJ Travel for a private active 2 day tour..just DH & myself with a guide & driver..Enjoy this great trip..after many cruises it will always be our favorite.
