4th of July on the Disney Dream

The cruise leaves on Wednesday July 4th and I was wondering if there will be fireworks on the first night or is the fireworks only on Pirate's Night which I understand is not the first night?

I would think that the fireworks would only be on Pirate night. They're only allowed to carry so many explosives onboard, and doing two shows would limit how big each show would be.

:)

If I'm not mistaken, Disney is the only cruise line allowed to shoot fireworks off their ships. Someone please correct me of I'm wrong.

There's another cruiseline (sorry, I can't remember which - I'll try to look it up), that has announced that it will have fireworks during it's sailaway party.

OK, I found it, it's the new Norweigean Breakaway.

It's not that they're not allowed, it's that nobody else bothers *.

Disney uses more fireworks annually than any other organization, anywhere.

* Norwegian Epic excluded as mentioned above.

One of the reasons that no one else bothers is probably because of all the hoops you have to jump through to carry fireworks aboard and then fire them off, when at sea.

When I cruised with Disney Cruise Line on New Year's Eve, with either the "Disney Dream" or the "Disney Fantasy," the ship could only carry enough fireworks for one night. So, instead of fireworks on Pirates' Night, which is usual, they fired off the fireworks just after midnight on New Year's Day. Nice!

It also depends upon where they are cruising. At least in the past, when I cruised with them to Alaska, it was forbidden to fire off fireworks in Alaskan waters. So, no fireworks that cruise.
