DaveG99 Posted April 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Im a very experienced snorkeler / diver. I spear fish (wont be doing that here obviously) and am very comfortable in deep water. Can I snorkel out where I put the red X? Seems like the deeper area beyond those rocks would hold the best fish and coral. it looks like they have a lifeguard stand way out there. Yes you can, if the seas aren't too high. When I was there (Oct. 2010) the seas were high and that area was initially closed, but they subsided and it was opened an hour or two after I got in the water. I'm a decent but not professional snorkeler and diver, so I kept to the area to the left (in the top photo) where they have submerged some objects (small planes, cannons etc.) and there were a LOT of fish, especially near the far lifeguard station. Not coincidentally, that's where they feed 'em. :)
pickler1 Posted May 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2012 I was there last August and the lifeguard told me that if I was a strong swimmer I could go out there where the red X is. He said there was more coral out there.
