CanWeGoYet? Posted September 10, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I've had a reuben made with turkey & extra sauerkraut, and a tuna reuben. The turkey on a soft roll sandwich came with way too much meat I thought. I had to take some of it out, seriously the turkey part was an inch high. goofycruiser Posted September 10, 2012 #27 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I always get the smoked salmon wth just lettuce and tomato on a roll. Never had a problem getting it.
golfadj Posted September 10, 2012 #28 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I tried to but was told they cant do that. They hardly put any meat on those thigs as it is. So I ordered two and chucked the extra bread. Thats strange I always thought they gave you plenty of meat.

critcatny Posted September 10, 2012 #32 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Last cruise I asked for a Tuna Melt and had no problem. And by the way, it was great! I believe as long as they have the ingredients, they will do it for you.
coevan Posted September 10, 2012 #33 Share Posted September 10, 2012 The deli is awesome, try the corned beef and pastrami Reuben, yum. My wife loves the Arugula and mozzarella sandwich. One caveat, pickles suck, wish they had good sour kosher pickles, not the sweet dark green things.
ShakyBeef Posted September 10, 2012 #34 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I get a tuna melt most days of my cruises. They were a lot better when the deli still had cheddar cheese. Now, only American (as far as yellow cheese). And it's not even good American.
serene56 Posted September 10, 2012 #35 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I go get what meat their carving at the buffet that day and have them make the sandwitch with that. Never been denied. really? I am surprised that this was allowed. you went to the carving station and took that meat to the deli and they made your sandwich using that meat? Rosefloater Posted September 11, 2012 #36 Share Posted September 11, 2012 One caveat, pickles suck, wish they had good sour kosher pickles, not the sweet dark green things. I think the pickles are good. They are old pickles. What I think is bad is the cole slaw at the deli. Never had the vinegar version that tasted as sweet as Carnival's. oncruisecontrol Posted September 11, 2012 #40 Share Posted September 11, 2012 And it's not even good American. You are SO right about that! Can you say "processed oil and water, cheese-like substance":( I have never been a fan of American cheese, but at least good American cheese has Cheddar as its first ingredient. I don't think the stuff Carnival uses has any dairy in it whatsoever. I think the Swiss cheese(?) they use at the deli is processed too.
Sargent_Schultz Posted September 11, 2012 #41 Share Posted September 11, 2012 If you can pick up other ingredients at the buffet, why not cheese?

funinthesun1964 Posted September 11, 2012 #48 Share Posted September 11, 2012 We love reubens but everytime my DH eats them, he has to use Immodium AD for a couple of days and feels sick to his stomach. Has happened to him on two separate ships, both times after he had eaten the rueben sandwich! Something must not agree with him. He never has the problem at a local pub here at home... Anyway, he says no more ruebens on the ship!

vegadog2 Posted September 11, 2012 #50 Share Posted September 11, 2012 really? I am surprised that this was allowed. you went to the carving station and took that meat to the deli and they made your sandwich using that meat? Did you have gloves on ? What other bacteria did you bring back with you? That is a SERIOUS health violation.I'm sure if one of the supervising chefs saw that someones head would roll.
