janice2348 Posted May 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2012 We just returned from a wonderful cruise on Enchantment to Bermuda as first time cruisers. Loved the crew. Thought the food was fantastic and the service phenomenal. I have a few tips I would like to share: Embarkation at Baltimore was a breeze. Passport is definitely the way to go. Check your luggage!!! We made this mistake and yes, I was advised to check it but being stubborn I didn't listen, much to my DH's annoyance! Cabin is small but has adequate storage space. But it's cramped, especially the bathroom. Shower leaked all over the floor. Smoking is all along the starboard side of the ship and in the viking lounge and I believe the piano bar, also the casino. :D Park at the port-it was $15 a day, much cheaper than a hotel and shuttle. Take advantage of early disembarkation-we were off the ship and in the car at 7:15 am. Bring reading material-the library is limited Bring a flashlight Bring clothes for cool and warm weather-it was very cold and windy Forget about your hair looking good-you are fighting a losing battle Bring several pairs of walking shoes. I would not recommend spike heels the way the ship was rolling-several women fell Don't order room service coffee in the afternoon-it took an hour. Go to the windjammer Avoid the windjammer at typical meal times-it really is a zoo. It was the most frustrating part of the cruise, but the food was excellent. If you have MTD and like your waiter, stick with him. We had Anthony-he was wonderful. Knew our names and favorite wine right away. If you see him tell him Craig and Janice said hello Just remember, the beds are small............. I did not need duck tape, or an extension cord. There were more than enough outlets. One formal night was enough Bring your own hair dryer and shampoo/conditioner Bring half the clothes and twice the money Don't bother with the casino Bring dramamine-ginger did nothing for me, although I wasn't really sea sick, it was rough at times. Above all, have fun :D

t_car Posted May 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Curious, Long time cruiser here. Why bring a flashlight? Never found a need for one. You did not mention Bermuda at all. Here are some tips for Bermuda. Explore the beaches. Horseshoe bay is the best one, and yes the sand is pink. Use public transportation in Bermuda, clean, cheap and efficient. The ferries are also a nice scenic way of getting around to the main cities and sights. Do not expect to see a lot of commercialism in Bermuda. Shop for souveniers, but nothing large. Only 2 jewellery stores on the island, no chains for fast foods or other chains at all. Bermuda law forbids them. Have fun in Bermuda.
janice2348 Posted May 5, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted May 5, 2012 I did write a separate review and did go into more detail. Once its published I will post. My night vision is not good - I left the bathroom light on at night. I figured tips on the ship would be helpful. we did not get to the beach- and it was raining so it was not a big loss. Thank you for posting about Bermuda. I found the Dockyard ti be a tourist trap. Lots of stuff made in China. Buyer beware.

Krazy Kruizers Posted June 12, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 12, 2012 Thank you for your observations and tips. We always take a small flashlight -- have had to use it in the hotels when the power went out.
