Has anyone left anything on a cruise ship and did you get it back.

My niece left her jewelry in the safe on NCL Sun in March. She called right away and they said it might still be on the ship; 2 weeks later they said they might have a possible match. It was being shipped from Pt Canaveral to Miami. She offered to come and get it, but they said no they would call her when it arrives in Miami They still have not called her/ She calls every other day and they keep saying they don't have it yet/ go figure. She has insurance but one piece is very dear to her It was her mothers and can not be replaced.

My son left his prescription eyeglasses on the Sky in late February. They still haven't found them though I described where they would have been. They were only for when he takes his contacts out and Saturday mornings but they didn't find them. Bought a new pair.

I am a former crew member, and I used to work in the Kid's Club. On the last night of the cruise after all of the children left we did a final clean-up and brought any items left behind down to the front desk so that they could be claimed in the morning before check-out if the owner realized that the item had gone missing.

I am not sure what happened to these items once the cruise was over. While I cannot say for certain, one would think that items of value such as jewelry, electronics, etc would be somehow made available to be reclaimed by their owners. Anything left in the stateroom at the end of the cruise would obviously never be brought the front desk as the room stewards can only get in there once you have left.

Almost. We travel with my elderly parents. On our last day I asked Dad if he had everything out of the drawers in our suite. He said yes. When he was gone to the bathroom I decided to double check. In the last drawer I checked, the one beside the bed, I found his key fob with all of his house keys, including keys to our house, etc. I held them up when he came out of the bathroom and he said how sick he would have been if he'd have left them behind. Especially since the key fob (the electrical kind) would have cost $250 to replace.

Not left behind, but on the cruise we just returned home from, I somehow lost my watch while waking in the morning or when I used the restroom. I noticed it missing within 5 minutes, as I was using it to time myself, well anyway, some dear person turned it into lost and found within an hour! this was on the Pearl, Pacific Coastoal Cruise 4-29-12--05-06-12, LA to Vancouver, if you are out there thank you. Watch was not expensive but have had it for many years and it has a unique band made of beads.

I left almost $2500 in the safe on the Pearl three years ago! I had won a poker tournament and, as you can't use cash, I put it in the safe. That morning, I was thinking about joking with my wife that I'd left it on board and, after we went through customs and were waiting for the shuttle to the hotel, I yelled a very loud "Oh Shoot!" (or something similar!)

I went back and tried to get back on board, but I was told that it wasn't possible for security reasons. However, they sent someone to the stateroom and a little while later, came to me at the checkpoint with an envelope full of cash. They made me check that it was all there and, with extreme relief, it was.

My experience was like Guindalf's. I left my laptop on the Gem in 2011 inside the closet. I didnt realize it was missing until I got home. I live close to the pier so I went back immediately. I was told I couldnt go back on the ship due to security reasons and that there was no one who could go to the cabin and get it for me because they were too busy preparing for the next load of passengers. I realized then that I had to make it happen myself so I called the NCL office and began to climb the chain of command to get what I needed to happen before my laptop disappeared. Long story short, after speaking to many people they handled it and made things start moving at the pier and some lady in a suit came out with my computer and computer bag and handed it to me with a smile and an apology. :)

My wife left her wedding ring and some other jewelry ( what she had laid out to wear ) on the Sun when we got off Xmas day last year. We were about 3 hours away in the car when she realized it.

After quite an ordeal trying to figure out how to contact the ship as it was Xmas day and all the rest of NCL was quite closed, she did eventually reach them, and they went to her room and confirmed getting the jewelry and mailed it back to us.

Was quite a fright...

The double check is a good practice. I do this whether on a ship, hotel, relatives/friends house, etc. Have someone assigned to check all the drawers, closets, safe, bathroom/shower, etc. after everyone has cleared out. Ususally, it's me that does it.

If you lost something, that's another issue.

I remember disembarking a few years ago.. when I was being checked off the ship with my cruise card, a loud beep was heard and I was told that I needed to return to the Pursers Desk. I was given a pair of glasses that I had reported lost during the cruise as well as some gold chains that I had purchased at "inch of gold" the night before and were supposed to be delivered to my cabin.. with all the morning confusion, I had forgotten.

They would certainly remember you as you were probably the first in a LOOOOONG time to actually purchase from Inch of Gold!!!! :)

DH and I were cruising 3 years ago on the Majesty and only discovered after we got home that he had left one of his dress shoes behind. We thought it was lost forever and went to get him another pair of shoes.

About 2 weeks after we arrived home, his shoe showed up in the mail from NCL. To say we were shocked (in a good way) is an understatement. We really appreciated our steward turning the shoe in to the Lost and Found on the ship. Meant the world to my husband as I had purchased the shoes for his birthday.

Once after returning home from the Majesty, I realized we were missing two swimsuits that were not returned in our laundry. I called, described the suits, and they were later found in the ships laundry. Both were returned by mail within a couple of weeks. I was really pleased that they were able to track them down!

I left my Raison d'être on a cruise ship. I found the only way to get it back is to get on another cruise ship.

Don't worry - I'll pick it up for you when I'm on my way to Bermuda in 24 days (not that I'm counting or anything )!!!!! ;)

Somehow I left our camera bag in the casino on our engagement cruise. All of our pictures were lost forever...I still hear about it every anniversary.

Upon docking, the casino used to be locked up and no one had a key or the authority to unlock it. I know now, thanks to cc and a little more maturity, that there had to be a way to get our stuff back.

The good news is we continue to make new cruise memories and I always keep the camera on me now!

same thing happened to a friend of mine a few years ago......she realized when she was about to get in a cab that she had left her money in the safe. They did let her go back onboard but several security people went with her and money was still in the safe.

After our first cruise, we left a suitcase at the pier. In all the disappointment of the cruise ending and the excitement of getting home fast to book another one with the FCC's, we totally forgot about one suitcase. Realized it after we came home (1 hr). Called RCI, they gave us another # to call the port office. Described the details, luggage tag etc. She checked...it was there in their office. We went back to get it. Pheeeeeeew!

On my first cruise(Carnival) I won two different jewelry drawings in the gift shops. The first was a beautiful amber pendant. The second was a chunky "inch of gold" not my type of jewelry necklace and bracelet. Guess which one I left behind in the cabin drawers? :(

I figured it was fate and didn't even bother calling to ask. I still hope maybe I'll reach into a suitcase pocket and find my amber pendant. Meanwhile the necklace/bracelet set sits in my jewelry case hardly ever worn...
