From a JS to another Suite is $400 - if there are any left when you board.

Seven day "at the pier" upgrade costs can vary. Here is what has been reported previously. See the pier coordinator after you check in. You pay on the spot - not on your shipboard account.

Outside - $300

From OUTSIDE to

Per cabin. It has been my experience however, that GS and OS are almost never available. Like they say the least expensive and most expensive rooms are the first to go. Good luck however!

In October, 2001 we were able to upgrade from a balcony to an owner's suite for $200. :) In March, 2004, the going price from a balcony to any suite (categories A,B, or C) was $600. I imagine that the price will vary according to availability and what they believe the traffic will bear. As ships sail at or near capacity, bargains are going to be few and far between. :(

Wow! Can anyone tell me why it would have cost my fiance and I an extra $700 Canadian per person to get a JS now instead of a balcony but it may only cost us between $400-$600 US total for the upgrade on the spot?

Probably because now the cruiseline has the possibility of selling that JS for full price to someone. A couple of hours before the ship sails, it will take a lot less because they know they can't sell it otherwise. Of course, if you pay the $700C per person now, you are guaranteed to get that suite - if you wait until boarding time, you may or may not get it at all.
