Rikka Posted May 13, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2012 We did two cruises back to back last September. We started our cruise doing Amsterdam to Budapest for 14 days. Then we stayed onboard in Budapest and continued down the Danube to Rousse for another 7 days. We disembarked in Rousse and continued on for the extension to Istanbul that we purchased from the cruise line. It was the trip of a lifetime. It took stamina as there was so much to see. There was always at least one tour every day - sometimes more. Take good walking shoes ! The first cruise through Western Europe was so beautiful. We enjoyed the castles along the Rhine, the charming cobblestone streets, wonderful outdoor cafes and lovely old towns. Eastern Europe is not so chocolate box pretty as yet (although they are working on it) but it is steeped in history. We couldn't think of any way that we could see so much of Europe and be so comfortable doing it. You will spend more time on coaches that you think as many times the sight you want to see are not right there at the dock. Having said that, it is liberating to unpack once and then head out with a small day bag. Have a wonderful time. We have already booked another river cruise for next year. cbb Posted May 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2012 This is almost too obvious, but make sure that you are given the same cabin for both parts of the cruise! When we do b2b on ocean cruises, the 1st thing we check is that the cabin we want is available for both. The last thing you want to do is to pick up and move! Secondly, ask your room attendant or cruise director what they want you to do on the 1st day of the 2nd "leg" of your trip. (They may want you off the ship!) Perhaps, if laundry is on your list of things to get done, your cruise director can help you find one close by. Also, a good time to resupply snacks, drinks, send an email home, or go exploring. B2Bs are wonderful!

SuiteTraveler Posted May 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2012 Do river boats have them ??? Uniworld's SS Antoinette does have a laundry room where you can wash your own clothes. I don't know about other river boats, though. They also had a laundry steward who did my husbands laundry for him on day 3 and returned it in less than 24 hours! We were in a suite, so it was free of charge.
