2 ES Price Drops Denied

Recommended Posts

I submitted 2 ES forms yesterday when my price dropped two different times during the day.

One was for a Senior Rate (3 of the 4 people I am booked with are seniors)

The other was a Casino Rate (at least 2 of us are Carnival Players Club members)

This is the response I received today:

"Your Early Saver price protection request has been denied. The rate submitted on the price protection form is not available in your category."

My category is Ocean Suite.

I can't understand how it's not available in my category when that is where I found the price?

Anyone have this happen to them?

I had that happen once last cruise, which was incorrect. I called and was given the upgrade I deserved. Did you take screen shots of the pricing? I would call and speak to someone at Carnival.

Thanks for the replies everybody!

Yes I do have a screenshot of the price and going into the properties it tells me the exact time I saved it so that's good.

Interestingly enough, the price is still available.

I think I will give them a call and see what happens.

I will let you all know how it turns out.

If you took a screen shot you could prove it.

Re submit a claim form and put in the notes section the exact times you see the price drops for your category.

Actually its better to just reply to the denial email .. if you resubmit it, then it starts from zero ..

just reply to the denial and explain. say what time and date you saw the lower rate and be specific.

I spoke to a rep on the phone. She told me to resubmit the form, making sure to put the Name of Promotion (casino offer), and, in the comments area, she suggested I put the breakdown for the pricing in the additional comments area.

I sure hope this works (fingers crossed).

I will let you all know how it turns out.

I always put that kind of basic info on it in the first place .. break down this is what each pax is paying now.. and what the new rate is.

dont make it hard on them.

Sorry firefly - just saw your post. Luckily the same offer is still available so hopefully that will be of help. If they deny it again I will do as you suggest. Thanks for the tip!

Gosh I hope I don't have another problem though :-(

Yes. Document everything! Put as much information as you can about the price drop you are submitting--time you saw it, date, where, what your last price was, that a screen shot can be provided if necessary, what category you qualify for, and cabin code--(8M, 8N, etc.) Make it difficult for them to give you, "No," as an answer. And I always say, "Thank you for your time and attention," at the end of the note section...probably does not make any difference, but it cannot hurt!

Every price drop I found for our July Breeze trip was approved--lots of $ and even $340 dollars OBC! I am an ES junkie, researching numerous times every single day. I probably need to join a support group of some kind...:o

Good luck! :D

Is a 'screenshot' where you have saved the page somewhere on your computer or is a photo taken with a camera or cell phone?

You save the exact page on your computer.

I press the key just right and next to F12 and save it in note pad, possibly much better places to save it but it works for me.

Hi All! I just checked my booking. They gave me the $200 price drop (yay!) but I don't see the OBC I had from my Future Cruise Credit - seems to have "fallen off" the booking.

Good grief, what next, ha, ha!! ;-)

Guess another call to customer service is in order ....

To be continued .....

This is a fairly common problem. From what I was told, when you submit a price drop form, the person handling it has to manually put back your FCC OBC. When you receive the e-mail confirming the price drop, just e-mail them back and explain that your FCC OBC is now missing and they'll put it back.

Going forward, if you see any other price drops make sure to notate your FCC OBC in your price drop submission form - should help prevent this from happening again.

Congrats on the price drop!

They dont accept screen shots. At least thats what Carnival told me. Heck my 12 yr old can make one that shows any price I want it to show so I dont blame them.

Ok... Now I am really curious.... where online can you go to see if any OBC have been applied to my account? I had a $250 penalty that was reversed when we moved my daughter from my cabin to another cabin. And we did get almost $600 reduction on our cruise for a suite because my husband is a senior. We've already finished paying for the cruise, so we're getting the OBC... but I can't find it anywhere online... need help! Thanks!

Go to your cruise manager and on your cruise documents there is a section that says itemized charges, mine has always shown up there.

I always take a screen shot and let them know so in my price drop form. They have never asked to see it but I am sure if they say your not eligible you would need it as proof.

Log into your account on carnival.com go to View Cruise Details~then View Details~then View Cruise Documents~put a Check mark by Print Cruise Documents & Click Submit~scroll down to page 2 of your booking summary there will be a box with Cruise Itemized Charges and below that will be another box that will say Onboard Credit

Only passing on info I got on this site and just about every price drop query thread,I am amazed you missed everyone else advising to take a screen?

When checking for early saver price drops you need compare to the exact cabin category such as 4D, 8J, etc. not the generic Ocean Suite. An ocean suite will be different categories depending on location on the ship.

I was denied and es rate earlier this week. Gave them a call and after much time and listening to many "carnival commercials" on the phone they finally agreed and gave it to me. In my case the price of the cruise showing was 60 more than I had paid but it had a 100 obc. I felt I should be getting 40 in obc, otherwise someone who booked now would technically have paid, with the obc, 40 less than me. In the end they increased the price of my cruise by 60 and gave me 100 credit. Actually works in my favour since now she says I will be comparing my cruise rate to the higher amount, so still more chance of a price drop. I was firm, and polite and had the numbers in front of me including a screen shot. If you think your are eligible keep trying. The worse they can do is refuse.
