Irishman45 Posted June 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2012 We've only been to GC twice the first trip we were tendered by lifeboat 2nd was a double deck almost like a small ferry/tour boat. Do more ships use the lifeboats or the tour/ferry boats from the island as tenders these days? We found using the lifeboats took a bit longer to get on and off. cruizer1001 Posted June 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2012 we were there last year and they had the ferry type boats (double decker) only took about 10 minutes
cb at sea Posted June 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2012 We, too, had the double decker big tenders....doesn't take long at all.
drew sailbum Posted June 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2012 The choice is up to the cruise line. Most ships use tenders which are based here in Cayman.
Cya@Sea Posted June 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2012 We were on the Freedom of the Seas in May, and we used the ferry type tenders as well.
PBC29 Posted June 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2012 As a wheelchair user I found the boats from the island to be far better than when we had to use lifeboats 4yrs ago. I could roll myself onto the bigger boat tender, crew had to pick up my chair with me in it to get onto the lifeboat when used as a tender. Getting off at the south terminal OMG  they had to lift me like 2 1/2 feet up to get off the lifeboat very scary when the water isn't prefectly calm.
