best scuba experience for beginner?

going to try scuba for the first time with carnival cruise and wondering which island is the best for first timer .i will be

going to the island of cozumel, belieze, roatan and cayman island

dont really have much time to do both sting ray and scuba in cayman island so it will be either cozumel, belieze and roatan.

the cruise excursion in cozumel will be 2and half hour, vs roatan will be 4 hours . i dont think they have any scuba excursion in belieze .

also is it better to do an scuba excursion with carnival cruise or should i try to find private company from the island?

I do not scuba dive but have friends who do and they tell me that Cozumel is one of their favorite places to Scuba Dive.

you're not a certified diver, is that correct?

 

What you want then is a Discovery Dive - an escorted introductory dive for someone not certified, there is a classroom component and some shallow water (pool) time. To take a regular dive excursion you must show a certification card (open water of higher) otherwise you can not dive.

Of the places you are going I'd recommend Cayman for the Discovery Dive - in the last year I accompanied daughter on DD's in Cayman and Coz and the Cayman was MUCH better. In Cayman I book all my diving with Sunset House.

 

Coz IS great diving but the 'real diving' is 90% of the time 'drift diving' and that's not what's typically done for a Discovery. Cayman has great shore diving and any current at all is VERY unusual.

I agree, for someone who is inexperienced, I would choose Cayman. I have snorkeled in Roatan and it's very nice there, but don't know much about their dive areas/programs.

 

I love Sunset House in Grand Cayman.
