Steve, Must have been terrific. Due to the timing and our desire for sleep we'll see the same pictures inside the quarry-many of them equally as big, but others probably more sharply defined. A fabulous experience either way:D

My error- it was Gauguin and Van Gogh, and the show was inside the quarry. The quarry is not an open air quarry, but a series of caverns. The paintings are projected on the interior walls.

Not sure where the dock is, but Avignon isn't that big. La Mirande is behind the Palais de Papes.

We had a lovely dinner there by a fireplace one chilly November evening, and drinks after by another f.p.. Ask to see the wine cellar. Not as enormous as some, but interesting none the less - if they will allow you a look in.

The riverboat docs are located just South of the remnants of the bridge that the famous song was written about.

 

It is not a long walk from the boats to the gate close to the bridge and then on to the Palace.

Thanks. I kind of remembered some river boats docked near the bridge when we were there last. That was a couple of years ago, and I wasn't sure that area was where AMA docks.
