Ncl slots - do any ships pay?

And the casinos love you, too. You do realize that the house edge in Roulette is a minimum of 5.26% and goes up from there? And that the best win probability is only 47.37%. You're playing a game that's heavily in the casino's favor, my friend.

As for the "Doubling up" system, it's been around forever and here's what one source says about it:

The oldest and most common betting system is the Martingale or "doubling-up" system,in which bets are doubled progressively. This probably dates back to the invention of the Roulette wheel, but every day of the week some gambler somewhere reinvents it, or some variation of it, and believes he has something new. Over the years hundreds of "sure-fire" winning systems have been dreamed up, but regardless of what system is used, in the long run it cannot overcome the house's advantage of the 0, or 0 and 00. This house advantage is the only system that consistently wins in the long run.

If you'd like to know more about it, read about the "Martingale" system here.

Yes the best odd's on a SINGLE bet is 47.37%, which is a black/red, even/odd, "high/low" bet since this takes up 18 of the 38 possible numbers and pays out 1:1. You must have missed the fact that I said I play two streets or dozens at a time, which pay out 2:1. So by placing two bets on two 2:1 payout areas, I'm essentially making a 1:1 bet with more numbers (24 ILO 18). I then incorporate the Martingale system to it. So far using the strategy I just mentioned I have not lost money as I've yet to hit a table max. I did lose money once but it was on a single bet as that was the time they paid me last and immediately got the ball rolling, limiting me to not be able to set my chips. I still left the table ahead.

I'm aware of the system, hence my reasoning in which you need to sit with a lot of money and hope you don't hit the table max.

Just off Gem and it was THE best cruise because of the staff. I would sail with them again in a heartbeat. But the casino had THE worst payouts of any I have been in. The Pearl, last year was not much better. We are on the Sun in Oct. Please someone tell me they at least let you play for awhile before taking it all back. We do not expect to pay the mortgage with the winnings but it would be nice to get a few white tickets to cash in on the last day. Please - only advice posts, no tisk tisks? Thank you

I have never been on any cruise where the casino paid off, but it is still a fun way to spend a few hours and once in awhile someone wins a little. The worse I ever experienced was the Spirit the first time I cruised her, but the last time she was more giving.

I found an interesting video by a guy that had wrote a book about slot machines.

They buy a "chip" that goes in the machines that determines the pay out rate and even though people had stated that the machines seem to hit bigger at the beginning of a cruise (to lure people in to playing them) and less toward the end...he says is bologna. It's all programed in the chip and unless they shut down each machine and put in another costly chip, then this is a false statement.

Also the payout rate is not done in any given order. Someone could hit big on a machine and walk away. That doesn't mean that the next person isn't going to hit for awhile. With the next pull, you could be a big winner too.

He also stated the rate in which the machine determines what the next spin will be is something crazy like it changes 1000 times in a second. So, if you think you have a "routine" of pulling/pushing the button every so often before you "hit big", it's highly unlikely because of it changing the odds so many times just in 1 second.

It was real interesting. He has a web site too that is suppose to tell all the slot games and their pay out rate and for each state.

I'm not sure how much is truth or not, just posting what I had watched. :D[/QUOT

Thank you, that was a great, informative video.

Do you know if they have Cave King and the Gold Fish games on the Star?

Hi, We just returned off of the Star on Sunday, I don't remember if they had Cave King but yes they do have the Gold Fish game. (I didn't do well on it or the video poker)!:( Have a great cruise.:D

Roulette has the best "odds". 38 numbers on the wheel, picking 12 numbers pays 2-1, so you play 24 numbers, if neither hit, stick with those and double your next bet, if one hits, again double the one that didnt and move your bet to the other 12. Playing this method works best if you are going to bet with straight chips as I recently found out the dealers will start rushing things and deal you all your winning chips last so you have no time to reset. Thats one problem, the other is in order to continue winning you need to have deep pockets and hope you don't hit the table max. Your odds of winning while playing 24 of the 38 numbers is 63%. Best odds I've seen.

That's called the Martingale system, where you double your losing bet each time. It works fine in theory as long as you have unlimited funds and no limit on your bet. But every table has a limit and you'll eventually hit it and go bust using that strategy.

Also, roulette is worse for the player than either blackjack or craps, as another poster previously mentioned. Although in roulette it is a standard percentage whereas in blackjack and craps it depends on specific rules as well as the player playing correctly in blackjack. Roulette is 5.26% all day long. Blackjack can be as low as 0.5% without counting cards, depending on the rules. (obviously can't count a continuous shuffle machine anyway) Craps is around 1% and depends on what odds they offer.

So why not just play 38 of the 38 numbers. Your odds will be of winning something will be 100%.....oh.....wait.....

I hear the roulette minimums are a dollar. I'm going to try the "dopey experiment" next time: http://rouletteluckandskills.com/dopey-experiment-system.htm

I have a 60% chance of coming out ahead (and a 40% chance of losing the entire bankroll.)

If you want to get a feel for this quickly, pick a number between 1 and 38 in your head. Go to http://www.random.org/integers/ and generate 35 random integers. Each integer should have a value between 1 and 38. See how many times that number shows up.

This isn't a sure fire way to get rich. It's just a fun way to pass the time in the casino.

I believe they do have a few video blackjack machines but thats what I can remember briefly, my memory is terrible. I do know they have a bunch of video poker and a video roulette with an automated wheel.

I've never seen Video Roulette.

I've never seen Video Roulette.

It is rife in the UK - every betting shop has 4 terminals with it on.

On the ship there is a 'robotic' style roulette - not sure how it works as I will not play US roulette on principle.

NCL Pearl - My very first cruise ever in 2009 on the Pearl, I won $1,200 on the $1 Wheel of Fortune machine on my 2nd day of the cruise!!! :) It paid for my whole trip.

NCL Jewel - My 2nd NCL cruise in 2011, I won $800 on the one of the .25 machines but I can't recall the name of it. :)

I have never won a cent on RCI, Celebrity or the NCL Sky for that matter.
