2XCruiser Posted May 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2005 Can someone post the instructions on taking ginger before and during cruise to prevent sea sickness. Thank you.
CaptData Posted May 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2005 Have two caps each meal. Two more at bed depending on type and strength which should be on the bottle.
Rence Posted May 10, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2005 I had read many different opinions on how much to take. I took one capsule, four times a day (each meal and bedtime) and then popped an extra capsule if I began to feel the least bit sick. I started taking it two days prior to the cruise. And kept taking it, even if I felt fine, just in case the seas suddenly changed.
2XCruiser Posted May 11, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted May 11, 2005 Thanks for the info. Is there a difference between Ginger and Ginger Root?
Rare geoherb Posted May 11, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2005 Ginger and ginger root are the same. I prefer to eat crystallized ginger instead of taking capsules. I've also brought some ginger teabags and ginger candy on cruises.
LindaKE Posted May 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Don't take ginger if you're pregnant. It can cause birth defects.
AIMS312 Posted May 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I've heard that it also makes your breath smell good. Is that true?
critterchick Posted May 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2005 It makes your breath nice and spicy! We took some ginger Altoids with us - I popped a couple before we sailed. They are very strong, but we really liked them. It turned out that the ocean was like glass the entire trip from LA to Vancouver, but I kept eating them. And the ginger gummy bears I found were good, too!:D
