loving2cruise Posted July 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Hello All :) We have a cruise planned to Bahama's/Florida in 2013. When looking for excursions in Orlando, we noticed that our only choices from the cruiseline is the themed parks. We do not want to go to Disney at this time. Are there any Beaches or shopping within walking distance from the ship, (GEM) or any other fun things to do? Can you please give me any suggestions on things to do at this port? It will be greatly appreciated. Thank You :)
luddite Posted July 14, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2012 To get tp the beach at Orlando, most people use a car or airplane ride. It isn't an easy walk.
fergusonvt Posted July 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2012 So your port is Port Canaveral, correct? Cocoa Beach is just a short ride from there. There used to be a shuttle but I don't know if that is still running or you can take a cab. It shouldn't be very expensive. There is also a huge Ron Jon's there that is fun to shop in as well as lots of smaller shops.

I think it is about 5.00 pp. There is some shopping in the town too. Read some suggestions here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1611640&highlight=port+canaveral
loving2cruise Posted July 14, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Yes, it is Port Canaveral that the ship will stop at. Thanks all for the suggestions. Thanks for the links too. They are very helpful. I will be going with 8 other 1st time cruisers, so they are leaving the planning up to me..haha.

cb at sea Posted July 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2012 Orlando is where the airport is that serves Port Canaveral...it's about 1 hour away. Get a guidebook at your library on Florida....lots of info about things to do and how to do them!
