guarantee stateroom ?

Basically, they assign what ever is left over after those who did not book a guaranteed category have selected their staterooms. Could be good...could be not so good. That's the chance you take when booking the less expensive guarantee rate. It's a roll of the dice.

for sept 1. We all got our cabin assignments (several on roll call who booked at same time) Tues or Wed of this week (almost 4 weeks out). We booked interior guarantee and are very happy with our upper deck interior cabin. think it is luck of the draw. Our friend booked OV guarantee and got riviera deck.

Hey, you'll be on vacation and on a cruiseship......how bad can that be? Worst - could be some noise, vibration, anchor noise, side thruster noise.

Might not be any worse than having a "perfect" location and having a bunch of unruly drunks or teens or kids running up and down the halls at 3 or 4 AM.... or drunks in the cabin next to you at 4AM...yelling and hollering. But keep in mind they are sleeping when you are awake, and their phone will ring INCREDIBLY LOUD when you dial it and hang up. Ask me how I know this works...........

So a "bad" location might not be so bad..............and what's the chances?

We did that experience twice been on 48 cruises and after the second time never ever ever again! The first time they put us under the galley and the second time under the dining room noise throughout the night carts rolling, heavy pans dropping, dishes dropping forget it we won't do that ever again. Also watch that your not right under the jogging track or the lido deck where the loung chairs are and the pool area.

Booked the cruise with guarantee OV room to be assigned, so when they do assign a room, does anyone know if they assign a good or bad location?

what ship and when is your sailing.

Assignments happen around 30 days for most but some do not get assigned until they are at the pier.

Some ships those ocean views are located under the galley- you do not want to be there.

But taking a guarantee-- you take your chances. You can be assigned anywhere on the ship. You WILL not get any inside cabin

The key to a guarantee is to expect the absolute worst cabin in the category. When you do not get that you are lucky.

We have only booked guarantee twice as we like to know where we are. Both times worked out OK for us. First was when we needed 2 triple OV cabins and there were only two left. Saved $80 by booking the guarantee, assigned the exact cabins we wanted immediately. The second time we could only book a guarantee. The cruise was either a 15 or 21 day, those on the 6 day had to take the leftovers. Ended up under a doorway leading into the buffet. Never heard a sound.

We have also booked a guarantee (balcony) seniors rate. It is on the Triumph for Sept. 1. We had not planned on another cruise this year (we went on the Magic in Feb.) but it was so cheap and over a holiday we grabbed it up. We live about 1 hour away from Galveston so this was a no brainer. I have been checking everyday and still no cabin assignment. I have been doing a dummy bookings to see what balcony's are available and there are quite a lot midship which is fine with us. Hope they don't make us wait until embarkation.

you are parked somewhere-- does NOT mean you will get one of those balconies showing as available
