How many days after initial deposit on a cruise will I have to get travel insruance (not thru cruiseline) in order to have pre-exisiting conditions waived?

Thank you.

It depends on the insurer and/or plan. It can be as few as 1 day or as many as 30.

We are likely getting John Hancock - because their time is 21 days and that suits our needs better. I didn't find the ones that were 30 days.

Look for posts by gh studio - he has good advice where insurance is concerned as does Lynn Obie.

We have always taken the ship insurance, but recently were told that it doesn't cover you when you are in port.
