Question Re 6:15 Traditional Dining

We will be on our first X cruise, the Equinox in October. Has anyone had experience with 6:15PM Traditional Dining? We are a party of 2, but requested to be seated at a table for 6. In the past we have always had "As You Wish" dining on HA and Princess and enjoyed meeting new people. Should we expect to be sitting with the same people each night? If so, what happens if one or both of the other couples eat elsewhere on a given night? We prefer NOT to dine alone. Would appreciate any input.

You might want to consider "Select" dining. Same as you experienced on Princess. Traditional dining means the same table each night. The same people are assigned there each evening, but some may choose another venue leaving the table less than full. On my recent Solstice cruise I saw a table for 10 have only 2 people for most of the time. If you want flexibilty Select would be a better choice for you.

Definitely you should choose "Select Dining". If you are at a table for 6-8 people, you simply cannot control what the others are going to do that night for dinner. They can choose to eat in a speciality dining room, choose the buffet, or simply eat in their room. I know on one cruise we were seated at a table for 4 but only the 2 of us were assigned. After 4 nights we were informed that another couple would like to join us and they were assigned to our table.....well it just worked out the next night we were invitied to teh Captains table and this other couple sat at our table by themselves.....did meet up with them on teh final night of the cruise but that just an example of what can happen...

GO SELECT......you will always be seated with someone could be the same people or different..but here you have bettter options. If you like who yoou are seated with, try and make prior arrangements for teh next evening at what time you would be showing up.

It gives you TOTAL flexibility on WHEN you dine, anytime between 6 and 10.

It gives you TOTAL flexibility on with WHOM you dine. Same people or different people every night, or any combination of options anywhere in between.

It gives you TOTAL flexibity on HOW MANY "whoms" you dine with. Table for 2,4,6,8,10 or any different size on any different night.

On Infinity last April, even though we were on select, we found a GREAT group and had the same table for 6 with the same staff every night but two "private dinners"

On Solstice this April, we had a fantastic time meeting new people almost every night and tried EVERY table size at least once. :) What's NOT to like? Just have FUN!;)
