Sapphire Princess - Day 1-2-3 018 by RickEk, on Flickr Oh come on now Rick, I don't think that is what the OP meant by 'latin music'. ;) That is a Mariachi Band. :D I have never seen any latin, salsa, Tito Puente, type bands. :(

Alessandrina Posted August 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2012 Also on Caribbean Princess, last summer (out of NYC) there was a group who played a mix of music including salsa, merengue, etc. Cheers.
skynight Posted August 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2012 Yes, In the Wheelhouse Bar they have had live music for ballroom dancing. They usually play quite a lot of rumba, cha-cha, salsa that type of music along with other soft dance music. No loud stuff in the Wheelhouse. But, of course it depends on the band Princess hires for your sailing.
pris993 Posted August 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2012 We love latin music. They do not play as much as we would like, so we ask for what we would like to hear and dance to, sometimes they know the much and sometimes they don't. So make a list of your favorite tunes and request them, you may get lucky. It is about the same on all cruise lines we have been on (Princess, HAL, Celebrity, Cunard to name the most recent ones). Times Prince Posted August 18, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2012 I wil like to know if there latín on princesas Ship or latín tríoThe only ship which we've been on which catered to latin music was Caribbean Princess when she was home ported in San Juan. The holiday sailing last Christmas had a high percentage of the passengers from Puerto Rico, so there was a lot of entertainment in Spanish, including some salsa nights for dancing. We've had some outstanding Brazilian music with a group called "Brasil Brazil" Ana Gazzola and Sonia Santos, during a South American cruise. The music in the Wheelhouse bar tends to have a trio which will play a fair amount of music with a cha-cha rhythm, but we usually have to request a rumba. I don't think this is the latin trio you are looking for.
simbasmom Posted August 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Don't hesitate to make a request of the music director on the ship. Recently, our son, a musician on the Emerald, played a Latin night for the crew (I think Princess had requested it). Maybe if there'd been requests from passengers, Latin music could have been arranged for passengers.

casavaha Posted August 19, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Last Christmas we had a band in the Wheelhouse from St. Lucia. Since we had alot of passengers from Mexico and we danced until the band stopped. They were very happy to play latin music. That was on the Golden Princess When we are on the one and two day cruises to Vancouver, there are many asians. They love to dance and they want cha-cha, rhumba, salsa, etc. You have to ask the band for the music you like. Princess pays alot for their music and it shows. The Wheelhouse is the best venue on the ship. We are there until closing every night, even in port. Greg

AJs Grandpa Posted August 20, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Enjoyed this Argentinian group on the Ruby 2010/2011New Year's cruise and again on the Star in the Med later in 2011. Don't know if they are still performing on Princess. They play everything but focus on jazz and Latin. Of course, they honored requests. DW liked them so much we bought their CD.
