Will be on the Emerald over Christmas and wondered how many formal evenings there will be. Would one of them be on the 24th or 25th?

We were on the Emerald this spring and did the same trip you will be doing. The two formal nights were the sea days. So it looks like you formal nights will be the 19th and 25th. Princess likes to use sea days but not the first or last nights on the ship.

We've been on two Christmas cruises and Christmas Eve is usually a Formal night (most of the religious services are Christmas Eve - e.g. Midnight Mass). Christmas day has been dress casual.

A 10 day cruise will normally have two formal evenings.

 

If the 24th or 25th would not normally be a formal evening, then one of the formal evenings will be switched to be one of these nights.

Many people will dress up on 24th and 25th even if those are not formal nights.
