It's getting old...

To both of you nurses: I'm sorry that you are not very well respected. Thank you for doing what you do for all of us when we are in need of your services! It's too bad that people are so burnt out on life that they have to treat others the way they do...and here I am saying this right after I got upset with my family and yelled at them. Oh well, suck it up and go apologize. This life is too short!

I've read some of these so called nasty comments etc. and IMO it is nothing and compared to what was going on here on the Princess board about 18 months ago it is trivial. I find the threads and comments here quite civilised now!

It's easy sometimes to get sucked in to adding our thoughts and opinions to some threads, when in the end it is quite unnecessary and really does nothing to help or add new or addition information.

NOTE; If you don't like the tone a thread is taking... get out and leave it alone, it will disappear much quicker that way. Or if a post is offensive in any way click the red triangle in the top right corner of the thread and let the moderators know about it.

If I say (and this is totally an example) that it was spongerob in "such and such thread" then he's going to get all defensive and respond back negatively.

Nah, I'd probably just apologize if I thought you were even partly right. Depends on how much time I have on my hands if I really want to argue. It's all just bits and bytes anyway, so the question remains, "Am I live or am I Memorex?"

Satire and existentialism - what a combination! :)

The one that left the worst taste in my mouth was when someone posted the article about the elderly couple who fell/jumped overboard. It had already been posted, apparently. (I hadn't seen it before, either.) The mean poster didn't just reprimand her for posting something already on the board, he was really nasty about it, and went on and on and on. I was scared to death to post anything after that, and I just kept wondering why in the world it was such a huge deal to this person!

I started a thread on both the Princess and Celebrity boards regarding a topic that really gets opinions flowing, namely cruise pricing. If you go back and review those threads, you will see that emotions ran pretty high on both sides of the issue, but the postings were pretty civil.

Is this the forum for strong feelings? Yes, but there is no excuse for debate to ever become a platform for personal attacks or snide remarks. Should those posters who repeat a topic or question that has been addressed over and over again first review the older threads to see if the answer is there? Sure, but often this is their first (or almost first) posting and they might not realize where the answer is to be found. All a rude reply might accomplish is keeping out the things these boards need the most to thrive - new members and fresh ideas.

How is it a "stressful time of the year" I would think December would be worser.

First, I love Christmas... Secondly I live in a climate that the sun rises after getting to work and sets before leaving from January until mid March. So until I get a little vacation. I AM STRESSED

I need a cruise, anyone wanna take me in their luggage?

IMHO that was snippy and deserved an answer. Soft drinks, ice cream and frozen yogurts will all the toppings are included in the price of the meal at HTB. Step above Princess. :D

No disrespect but this is the "nasty" post by the "mean" poster that you referred to..

"old news...already a thread on this, and it happens more than most realize.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=178701"

I saw both posts that day as they were on the same first page of the Princess Board..

The thread you listed was the "nice" one. Suzanne was referring to this one ...

One poster was quite upset that the OP hadn't done a search about the topic before starting the thread. I think the majority of new threads started have already been discussed elsewhere on these boards. I'm sure if I took the time and did a detailed search, most of my questions have already been answered. I think almost every topic has been discussed at one time or another, so to those of you who are considering starting a thread about clothing, tipping, food, pools, kids, ports of call, entertainment, dining, cabin selection, etc. I guess the one poster thinks you should do research first. Somewhere in the hundreds of thousands of posts, you will be able to find information about your topic.

My quote was from the "nice" one.. Go back and read the first 4-5 posts there. Seems that the OP got "snippy" first.. JMHO. As for doing a search to find something in the hundreds of thousands of posts, I concur it could be tedious, however both posts were on the same first page of the Princess Board.. The new post was posted one hour after a response was made to the original post..

LARGIN,

First off the over board posts were not on the same page until YOU bumped it up!! Secondly....I did go back THREE pages before I posted the story to see if anyone else had posted. Thirdly....you take far too much liberty in determining my reply as being "snippy". To suggest that someone should have not click on a post ....with the same title by the way... if it was not news to them is just a fact.....which I pointed out.

Maybe you should continue to pack for your up coming cruise and stop assuming you know all there is to know about message board etiquette. Have a wonderful cruise and don't climb up on the ship's railings ;)

Derfs original post .. 5/16 @ 706am

9 Replies to the post .. 5/16 @ 723am.. 5/17 @ 454, 537, 813, 859, 903, 914, 1042 and 1044am

Your new post.. 5/17 @ 1147 or 1 hour and 3 minutes after the 9th reply to Derfs post.. Both Derf's and your post were on the first page without my bump at 140 in the afternoon. If you check todays first page you will see almost 5 hours difference between the first post and last post on the page.. My bump did not effect anything..

No disrespect, but perhaps one should check all of the facts before assuming anything.. As for the good wishes.. Thank you.. I hope your next cruise will be a nice.. :)

Here's a good one. Seems like a couple of people here are tired of hearing me say the food on the Princess Diamond is lousey.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=177769

I think it’s the way it’s been stated. One can comment on what they think to be a lack of food quality without making disparaging remarks. Suggesting that the food on Princess is less than that of a discount buffet adds fuel to the fire and incites the “snippy” comments. Objectivity works wonders.

IMHO that was snippy and deserved an answer. Soft drinks, ice cream and frozen yogurts will all the toppings are included in the price of the meal at HTB. Step above Princess. :D

See what I mean – that just perpetuates and heightens the argument. Given that HTB doesn't sail around the Caribbean - or anywhere else for that matter - you really can't make a comparison. Objectivity works wonders.

I agree the snippy people had valid points. OK, we all agree a faux pas was made! Maybe even a dreadful, terrible, horrific, unforgivably irresponsible faux pas. The point was, you don't have to be mean. So what if someone made a mistake! Gosh, no one died as a result, or anything, did they?

Carnival Valor 4/10/05

No grumpies here, well OK we are grumpy as we are not going on another cruise until 2007.

We felt the need to "join" and share positive things about the cruises we have been on and will go on. We found this site to be helpful in preparing for our cruise.

We went to the Eastern Caribbean on the Valor in April and had a fabulous time. We felt the need to post our opinions as it was the best vacation we have ever been on and we came home completed relaxed and ready to go again.

We went with 17 people 7 cabins, and received $100 cabin credit, and $25 each for the casino. What a bonus those amenities were. Sis-in-law did the travel arrangements and got the deals for us. Although the casino credit sounded as if we HAD to use it the first night and so D threw hers out as she was exhausted and wanted no part of the casino. Later we found you could use it any time. Oh well!

We stayed on the 7th Deck/Empress we were Starboard Aft., balcony room. AHH!!! D always wants a balcony but G says "maybe".

We enjoyed the shows and the comedians had us laughing our heads off. We were up late every night and slept in, something we rarely do at home. We were so relaxed we did not hear the announcement for the jumper, and did not know anything of if until noon the next day. D wished she could have hugged the guy. She was sad thinking of him. We prayed for him.

We loved our "romantic" dinner at Scarlett's and it was well worth the money. We found when D was not too hungry our waiter (cannot prounounce or spell it) was sad she was not eating. Both of us danced with the waiter and throughly enjoyed the dining experience. Very attentive wait staff we felt.

We enjoyed the pool area and the drinks we had. We enjoyed the slide and went down it several times. Finding a chair was a little tough, but we did manage to find one.

The only complaint was the shore excursion on St. Maarten,we took was to be a "jeep" excursion but it was not a jeep it was a Suzki Tracker (we think) and G is 6'4" so he was a little squished, but...it was still fun and D screamed when she drove through the very little 4 wheelin' we did. So all in all it was a fun excursion.

The Dolphin Encounter was well worth the money. We bought every picture and the video. It was a highlight of the trip. Hugging the dolphin was great.

We found the embarkation and debarkation to be smooth and much quicker than our first cruise.

We know this is on the long side, but we wanted to "defend" the Valor as we felt it was awesome, the whole cruise went too fast but it was worth every penny, and every memory.

Your vacation is what you make it, do not dwell on something if it is not quite right, focus on all the good. We know the good exceeded any "bad" there might have been 10 fold.

Happy Sailing!!!

The following quote by highschoolsweeties, in my view, says it all:

"Your vacation is what you make it, do not dwell on something if it is not quite right, focus on all the good. We know the good exceeded any "bad" there might have been 10 fold."

This has been our philosophy on our six previous cruises and it has served us well.
