Allis154 Posted September 18, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 18, 2012 This would be an awesome cruise but I do not see such an itinerary. Am I just missing it? I did one of these in 2007...awesome itinerary! Looked but couldn't find one for this year on X...didn't look at other years...there is a 11 Alaska cruise on Century followed by a wine cruise that could work the same way... edgee Posted September 18, 2012 #27 Share Posted September 18, 2012 I thought I finally understood all of this until I saw Celebrity's twice a year repositioning cruise on Summit which travels from Bayonne to San Juan in the Fall and in the opposite direction each Spring. It travels between different U.S. ports without stopping at a "distant" foreign port such as an ABC island or Cartegna. Does anyone know how this is legal? San Juan is exempted from the PVSA as long as there is no US flag ship on the run.
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 18, 2012 #29 Share Posted September 18, 2012 Cabinet -- there are no problems with your itinerary. The PVSA kicks in when one ship transports passengers between two US ports. It requires a visit to a "distant foreign port" in between. You are not going between two US ports, so no worries.
