Questions about the My Awesome Bar Program

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about getting the program for my boyfriend and I on our B2B next year (if it's on the Imagination by then) and there are a couple of things I'm not sure about.

First, I know there's a 15 drink/day rule and you can't override that to buy someone else a drink. Does that also mean that if you reach the limit, you can't buy anymore drinks that day by actually paying for them (not that we'd ever need to probably, just wondering)? What I mean is, is it possible to get my 15 included drinks and pay for 16+ or would I be cut off after 15?

Second, I know there are things that aren't included such as the mini bar in the cabins and specialty coffee. I also know that the reason you can't buy someone else a drink is that the system can't override the program on your card to actually charge it. Does this mean you can't buy anything else such as the specialty coffee, etc?

Just wondering what you can and can't do with the program!!

Thanks!!!! :D

Unfortunatly, you will first of all not be allowed to buy it for just your boyfriend unless he is in a cabin by himself or you are in the cabin and under the age of 21. Everyone in the cabin 21 or older must buy it on no one can.

You will be able to purchase coffee and other items not included on your S&S card.

As far as being able to pay for a drink on your card after you have reached the limit of 15, that I cannot answer for sure but I would hope that if someone was cut of to prevent overindulgence, they would not consider serving you whether you are paying for it or not. I guess we will have to wait until someone experiences that scenerio and reports on it.

We'll both be in the same cabin and both be paying for the program so no problems there!! :D

Ok perfect!! :D We're both big coffee drinkers so it's good to know we can still charge things that aren't included in the program. What about soda, is that included in the program? Can you buy both the bar program and the soda program (not that we would, again, just wondering)?

I would hope no one who had already had 15 drinks in one day would want more either, I was just wondering!! :D Inquisitive minds need to know these things, haha!!

I am wondering if anyone who has utilized this program can tell us if they were able to order a drink off of the classic bar menu and get the match play certificate at the casino. I remember being able to do that on my last cruise and thought it was such a great deal.

I would imagine since it says drinks over $10 you get a 25% discount.

So if you want to pay extra for drinks over $10 that are not included, that seems like you should be able to do that.

The drinks on the Signature drink menu, where you earn a $5 casino matchplay are all $ 8.95.

I had always read you had to buy off the classic bar menu to get it??

Could you have gotten lucky?

Soda is included, but it's unlimited (does not count towards the 15 drinks/day).

I'd read somewhere that the 15 drinks per day is not a hard & fast rule, but that the bartenders can use their discretion if they want to serve you more, but they can certainly cut you off at 15, too.

I think 15 drinks per day is a good # for most people. You figure a mimosa or bloody mary in the morning/brunch, a few cocktails or beers by the pool, a glass or two of wine with dinner, then a few drinks at the shows or casino in the evening.... still not the limit. And you'd drink even less than that on port days.

Some people seem to think that people are going to down all 15 drinks in a short time period and be stumbling drunk, but I don't think most people will do that. Over the course of a day, 15 is a fair number, in my opinion.

But, even if you get 5-6 drinks per day, you're making out better than paying individually. And I like knowing exactly how much my bar tab will be before we even cruise!

The last poster said its up to the bartender. So do they scan ur card every time or is it a sticker on the card that says u paid for the Program and there is noway for them to reall no..... It's not that I am a stumbling drunk but I can easily down more than 15 on sea days. 6-8 beers by the pool. 2 or 3 glasses of wine at dinner a few martinis and something in the comedy club late nite and I'm over 15. I'm not a drunk but like tO not have restrictions.

If it works the same as the Group Bar Card, you will not be able to get the match play. :(

They scan your card with every drink and you have to sign a receipt for every drink.

As for the Match Play- I ordered plenty of the Classic Cocktails when I used the program last week and I did not receive even one Match Play.

Thanks everyone!! :D Good to know that soda is included and also that it doesn't count towards the 15 (which I'll be needing for DODs, beer, etc)!! :D

Another question, can you get (when you're willing to pay extra for it) the souvenier DOD glasses? I love my DOD glass collection, they're great to re-use at home and re-live the cruise!! :D

This is pretty much what I was wondering as well. Is it 15 a day and only 15 a day or can you have more?

So will they cut u off at 15 definitely? Since u just got back was it worth it?

At the time I didn't think I was going to even break even- it just didn't seem like I was ordering enough. However- it cost $690 for the program for the two of us and I kept every receipt. I totaled them up and we ordered $842.70 in drinks!!!!! Wow! Had no idea we drank that much! So yes, it was worth it for us. We did get held very strict to the 5 minute wait- in the comedy club we liked those shooters and they are tiny- so when they would bring one we would order another and each time the servers said we had to wait. One thing we did notice- we got better service than those without the program so that was great! The bartenders at the comedy club, bars and MDR would always come back again and again.

I never got close to 15 a day so I am not sure what happens at that point.

This is what I was wondering. Can you get a match play when ordering these drinks using the My Awesome Bar program. Sounds like that may not be an option. I wouldn't think they would allow that since people could order up to 15 of these drinks a day and then get the match play for each drink. Would be nice though!

We are going to get this for our Splendor cruise. One thing to remember is that you are eating much more than normal. So more food in your stomach will help with amount of alcohol that is going in.

We had a pretty good time once in Cabo, I have don't shots like that very often. Once we hit dinner and all the food. We were ready to have more later. Never had a headache the next day. Had I did that at home I am sure it would have been an aspirin kind of morning. As I don't eat enough sometimes while enjoying that's it's Five O'clock somewhere! :D

Yes, I've read they run your card every time, so they can keep track and know when you've hit 15 drinks and for inventory control also. When DH was getting free drinks in the casino, he still had to sign for every drink, even tho there was no charge.

Sis had to take her receipts to the cashier cage to get her Match Play coupons. Did you? And if so, what did they tell you?

Has anyone heard or read whern they are rolling this out to any of the other ships? I sail the Liberty on 11/10th and would love to have this option :o

There is no announced schedule yet, since this is a test, they're probably waiting for some feedback form the ships before expanding.
