Elorahd Posted September 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2012 My sister and I are going to Belize, Cozumel, and Roatan the first week of January on Royal. I've done some reading on these boards but most of the stuff was at least two years old so I thought I'd write and see if I could get some updated info. We're looking to make the most of our trip, doing the best things in each port. I like things in the air - zip lining, parasailing. She likes to scuba dive. We're both interested in the cave tubing and I think the ruins would be cool if it's a highly recommended tour. We both also like animals and gardens. So, where should we start? What's the best thing to do on each island? Don't worry, I'm posting this on the other port threads too. Thanks!
JohninDC Posted September 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Coz is an island so most activites revolve around the water and beaches. Swim with the dolphins at Chakanab? Snorkel or scuba with Eagle Ray? Parasail from Paradise Beach or just about any other beach? Or just go to an All Inclusive beach club like Nachi Cocom and relax in the shade with a good book and a few good drinks? Good luck! :)
Elorahd Posted September 23, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I don't like the beach or the ocean. Sand, salt, ......ick. Dolphins are cool but I don't feel the need to swim with them. Is this the only port to do the parasailing?

Is this the only port to do the parasailing? We are just like you; can't sand the beach/sand. But we are also afraid of heights so ziplining and parasailing is out, can't swim so swimming with the Dolphins is out and don't drink so we can't justified a bar hopping tour. But after 11 cruises to Coz we found a tour that we know we will like..a chocolate factory tour where you get to sample different chocolate beans and you can even bring home your own chocolate drink mix. Here is the website... http://www.chocolateskaokao.com/about_us.html if you scroll down, on your right, you will see a link that brings you to the tour reservation information and form. If you are at all interested in photography, we enjoyed the Cozumel Photo Tour. http://cozumelphototour.blogspot.com/ Food related activities which are highly recommended include food tour, http://www.cozumelchef.com/services/food-tours-cozumel/ or cooking demonstation http://www.cozumelmycozumel.com/Pages/CozumelCookingClasses.html. There are small ruins on Cozumel, no where near as impressive as the mainland but interesting in their own way, see thread on San Gervasio further down or use search engine on this site. One tour which i have not seen any reviews about is http://cozumelchoice.com/ which i believe is a subsidiary company of the popular group in Costa Maya. This is a tour to the ruins with a guide and includes a trip round the island. A similar tour could be arranged by yourself by getting a taxi at the port to the ruins and back, or round the island for an exteded tour. If you are not comfortable with arranging your own driver you could contact eduardoczm@gmail.com popular with the "hire a driver" thread. This is a long thread which certainly began a long time ago but if you read the last few pages it may also give you some ideas of places people are currently visiting. You are welcome. Here is a post I made earlier about the photo tour and walking tours http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=35228919&postcount=14. If you google you will find further reviews. Communications via email before the photo tour were very good.
