Using your Seapass for the Casino....

If you have the extra money, just stash the cash away! You can use cash, and there's no "fees" at all! And, when the gambling money is gone, it's gone...you're done. I find that cash is the best way to gamble. So take that money you were going to send them for OBC, put it in an envelope and keep it until you need it!

The reason for wanting to use our credit card is we'd like to get some miles for it, and we also don't really want to carry a bunch of cash we may not use.......I know someone posted a good way to do it but I can't seem to find the thread!

You can always put the cash you don't use back in the bank. FWIW, I hadn't seen a way to get cash from your credit card, without paying the fees associated with that. Those fees would wipe out any advantage from the miles you might receive. If there is a trick, I wouldn't mind hearing about it though.

Can't speak for RC since I don't remember the last time we gambled on an RC ship, but I was just on Carnival and they allowed me to use my sail card in the Poker and Slot Machines.

I used my sail card and got $100 credit on the Poker machine - cashed out - which put $100 onto my card. Then I went to the casino cashier and asked for my "winnings" back in cash. I gave that cash to DH so he could play the table games. And, of course, I did do a little gambling of my own - so I think Carnival knows what it's doing. LOL

WARNING - The money needs to be taken off your sail card prior to disembarkation. If you don't cash out your winnings, the cruiselines send you a check and you would have to wait weeks to see that money returned. I cashed out my sail card each evening, so I wouldn't forget.

Winnings on your sail card do not pay for purchases on the sail card from around the ship. These transactions (casino and bar) are handled as two entirely different entities.

Thus, you will not get rewards on your credit card. But you will have free access to extra cash for table gambling without using the ATM.

It could have been an old thread from before the 3% charge.

In the past people used to do this especially with the RCI Credit card and brag about it here on CC as to how they took the daily max out of the casino and out the money in their safe to pay off the CC with it once at home, while getting double points for it.

One of the reasons RCI started the 3% charge.
