Some advise from some seasoned cruisers to Bermuda, please!

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some info from some seasoned Bermuda cruisers. We are

going on a late October cruise to Bermuda. Is there any point during

the cruise, excepting when we are docked in Bermuda, where it is

warm enough to swim? Since we are going South, but not South as in

Florida or Caribbean, I am guessing that it is pretty cool for all of the

sea days. Is that correct? If so...I'll have to sharpen my bingo skills

before I go. Appreciate any input, thanks !

You may find it a bit chilly to swim, but it will almost certainly be warm enough to sun! But, you know how the weather goes....you can never tell what Oct. will be like...so far, it's warm....but in 2 weeks, it will be anyone's guess!

Bermuda is in the Atlantic, just off the Carolina coast, but the gulf stream keeps it a bit warmer than our East Coast.

By the end of October the water temp in Bermuda will probably be in the low to mid 70's. Swimming on the ship will depend on the sun. If you have clear skies the pool deck will get warm however the pool water may not be that warm.

Have cruised to Bermuda more than 10 times and all in at least the second week of Oct. except for two. The first day was cool but by the second day it was warm enough for sunning and swimming in the pool on deck. The weather in Bermuda was almost perfect with much less humidity than high season and the water always warm enough for swimming. The water takes awhile to warm up in the beginning of the season but stays warm longer at the end of the season.

Sea conditions ranged from bumpy, (but this was on small ships), to like glass.

Coming home, the next to the last sea day was cool and the last day getting into port has been downright cold except for a couple of times. These cruises were out of NY., Phila., NJ., Balt. and all the going to and coming home conditions were pretty much the same.

As always, YMMV.;)

The weather from NY/NJ has been unusually warm even today we

might hit 80...

What we found when we cruised to Bermuda in late Sept the pools on Explorerwere chilly but once in the water, water was very refreshing....

(Today,I am sitting at my computer presently w/ sandals and a sleeveless

top on but who knows the weather can change this coming weekend.)

Even if it chilly you will have plenty of areas that are sheltered so you can enjoy the sun... Especially around main pool deck or Solarium pool.

Bermuda weather was gorgeous mid 80s while we were there and water temperatures were warm as well.... ususally this is typical weather for their fall...unless storms are in Atlantic

Apparently come Nov/Dec an off period is when Bermudians say that it cools down....

If you have a I phone or similar go on the app for weather and check

Hamilton, Bermuda weather weekly....

As of NOW we have been blessed with NO major hurricanes in the Atlantic corridor.... Hopefully this will continue...

Smooth Sailing!!!!!!!!

We just returned from Bermuda on the Explorer. During the entire voyage, the pool was too cold for comfort. There were a few brave souls, but for the most part, people could not use the pool.

The water was warm enough in Bermuda due to the Gulf Stream.
