Hello Fellow Buckeye. Thanks in advance for the work your going to do on your vacation. In the distant future we might like to take the same cruise, so I'll read with interest.

We also did a pre cruise tour with RCCL in Italy last year. It was a 4 day tour that started in Northern Italy. Flew in to Milan, bussed up to Stresa which is near the Italian/Swiss Alps. (http://stresasights.blogspot.com/)

Spent two days there, and than two days Lake Como/Venice. Had a great time and would highly recommend it.

We're in Florence now. Thanks for the replies. It makes it all seem worthwhile. It looks like rain the next couple days. I'll try to get pics when I can, but always will describe what we did.

At the end of the precruise tour I will wrap it up with the pros and cons. Very few cons, by the way.

Great review! We did this trip over the summer in two weeks, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. Absolutely magical trip. If your in Rome now, there's a great restaurant not to far from the train station called Strega, we ate there 2 out of 3 nights we had in Rome. Delicious food! Well worth a visit if your not to far away! Looking forward to seeing some pics if Navigator, we'll be on her in two weeks :D

Do you remember what street Strega is located? We've got an apartment in Rome reserved next spring that's only a couple of blocks from the train station.

Strega's address is Piazza del Viminale, 27/31, 00184 Rome. Worth a visit we really liked it. If you get directions on google maps it should bring you right to it form your apartment. We stayed in IQ hotel and this is just around the corner from it. We will be staying in IQ again next week and will be eating in Strega.. Creatures of habit ;)
