Dinner in the Windjammer - Dining Room food items

Recommended Posts

Hi - We are sailing on the Splendour next month and due to how port intensive it is, we are trying to decide if we want to bring extra clothes for the dining room. Does the Windjammer have some of the dinner menu items too? I usually eat in the dining room for dinner and I rarely eat dinner in the windjammer, but this time we are thinking of changing that.

Yes...they have some items, but not all. You do know the dining room has "casual" nights, so you needn't "dress up" all that much! No shorts is the only thing....capris for gals,, collared shirt for men with slacks, will do it!

Wear whatever you are comfortable with in the MD. However, on the European cruises (which is what I think you are referring to), people tend to dress up a little more for dinner. Ladies, nice slacks, dressy top (they have called it country club casual). Most men are fine on casual nights in the collared shirt or sport shirt.

You will likely find one or two of the soups from the MDR menu, possibly some of the cold appetizers, and some of the entree items that would work on a buffet. There may also be simpler versions of some of the dessert items on the buffet. I can understand how sometimes one just doesn't want to dress, wait for dinner, and go through the process of ordering and dining. Some nights you just want a simple, easy meal and to relax elsewhere on board. We typically do MDR every evening, but there have been times when I've thought to skip it because I've been tired.
