Magic Murder Myster (Who done it)

This was listed one night in the theater so I went to see what it was. Each murder suspect came out and told us some things about where they were when the murder took place at 10:20 pm the first night onboard.

Weapons, microphone, gun, fishnet stockings, rope, candlestick and lady gaga's stiletto.

Cruise Director, James, I could not have been the murderer because the victim died at 10:20 pm and I was here in the showtime theater for the welcome aboard show. However, when I picked up my microphone to go on stage I noticed a large dent in it that was not there before. You are my witnesses because you saw me at the show.

Asst CD Jacques, I was at bingo and the welcome aboard show. Any of the audience members can verify my alibi. However, James does have a gun stashed away in his cabin.

Chris: I was in the back of the showtime theater watching the show that night. .. blah blah blah

You have 3 days to figure out who did it and with which weapon and turn it in by Friday midnight at the pursurers desk

You find each of the above and ask them for a clue. The candlestick was found in the cabin of the CD however no human DNA was found on it Chris says..

Each day they put up a thing you have to decode.. forget what they call these, each letter is a code for another letter, you have to figure out which.

The clues were confusing and they said they were going to change them for this week .. so I think its ok to say them here

1. CMLDICD MO NDM VAFF GMCD XIP XI RLMQX UPO OTD UDMPOX KPDDH, M CAFFDL? NTD'N VMX OII JLDOOX

2. VTAFD NIGD IY VDLD FXAHS AH UDE, UMSSAHN EADE YLIC M UFIV OI OTD TDME

3. I gave up. didnt write down the third clue.

who done it?

what do you all think of this for a night in the theater?? too hard?

I guess I wasted my time writing this down to bring it home to mention on CC.

Laura is the lady who does karaoke

clue 1 above if you unscramble the letters

1. CMLDICD MO NDM VAFF GMCD XIP XI RLMQX UPO OTD UDMPOX KPDDH, M CAFFDL? NTD'N VMX OII JLDOOX

Karaoke at sea will make you go crazy but the beauty queen, a killer? She's way too pretty.

(not sure .. but this might rule Laura out on the version on my cruise).

So no one likes this idea of a murder mystery to solve onboard the Magic I take it?

It really sounds interesting and would possibly be something fun I would like to do, but as you explained deciphering the codes (whatever they're called) and finding each of the people and getting clue, it is just way too involved for me. Not on a cruise. I'm there to relax and this seems like way too much work for my idea of a vacation. Each person is different and I'm sure some might like this. I will pass, however.

I had seen this on my last cruise and didn't go to find out about it, but did wonder what it was. Thanks so much, FF, for writing all that down and posting here. Now I know not to bother.

This must be new. I don't think I would be interested if it is something that you have to do everyday to figure out who is the murderer. I know Royal has the Murder Mystery Dinner on some of their cruises where you go to a speciality restaurant and are given clues throughout dinner to figure out who done it.

I like this idea better. It reminds me of a Murder Mystery game we played in the 80's. We would have about 8 people for dinner and throughout the evening try to solve the murder. It was fun.

I actually played last November on the Valor because I love a good mystery. It was fun asking questions of the staff who were involved if you bumped into them. I think they put all the correct guesses into a pool and picked a winner. I know I had had the right answer but didn't win :(. I actually had a good time playing though.

cryptogram.. thats what the scrambled letters are. It just came to me. They post it daily at the coffee desk. And day 3 posted all three crytograms.

I gave up because I did not see the CD or asst to ask for their clues.

Chris did the genius IQ test .. so thats why I got to ask him.

We did the Murder Mystery Dinner on RCL twice and this sounds more interesting.

This is free. Wasnt the dinner like $50 pp?

Most of the guys are not that hard to find. One is the guy who does the rope course and attachs the harness for instance.

I thought I heard once that they were going to do something like this. I spent too much time in the casino on my first Magic cruise to participate, but was thinking about doing it if offered again in December. Is there a prize? Ship on a stick? :)

My granddaughter and I played this on the Magic in May. One thing I noticed on our cryptograms was that the letters were the same on each one--so you could use the letters from day one to solve day two, etc. Also, we were able to trade clues with other contestants so we didn't have to find each person.

Would not interest me or the ones we cruise with, but hey it's something else going on to scatter folks about the ship. Don't want to have to think that much, hunt down folks and keep track of it everyday. Adding something new is great. There are always going to be ones who love it. Something for everyone on the ship. :D
