Does anybody know what vaccinations are required? - We will be on the Regal Feb 11, 2006 - BA to Santiago - also - anybody know the luggage weight restrictions for the local airlines - we are planning Rio to Iguaza Falls to BA - cruise - then return to Rio or BA or straight back home if we can find flight arrangements.

Your cruise itinerary will not require vaccinations, BUT seeing that you are travelling to Iguassu Falls, yellow fever shots will be needed. ALSO, Brazil visits require a Visa.

Yellow fever is not required for Iguassu, it is sometimes recommended, but it is not required for travel from the US. It is required if you plan on visiting the Amazon.

Would start checking requirements for necessary visa (if you don't already have one) if planning to visit Brazil on this trip...have family that have lived there 30 years, and Brazilian embassy has been rather spiteful to US travelers since visa fees were raised by our state department. Was at Brazilian embassy in S.F. a few months ago and took quite awhile to complete process...

We are on the Regal March of 2006. I am far from the expert on these boards, but I think this is accurate. I've contacted our local travel clinic for yellow fever and they also recommend typhoid and even malaria tabs (!). Not sure about the last two for us but we will be visiting the Brazil side of Iguazu. We've already done Hep A and B (didn't know there was a C as mentioned above). Visa still required and it is good for only 90 days from date of issue. There was talk on an earlier thread about the visa requirment being discontinued but that is vague at best. We will be using a visa/passport service for the Brazil visa as I think it will be safer and faster. Worried about mailing our passports.

Hope this is current and accurate.

There are immunizations for hepatitis A & B, but not for hepatitis C. All travelers should really have hep A if you travel a lot, esp. if you are traveling places where sewage treatment is less than idea. Hepatitis C is most commonly transmitted by blood transfusion or contaminated tattoo or syringe needles, so unless you engage in these practices you are at low risk.

Yellow fever is not required for Brazil unless you come from an endemic area (such as the northwest coast of South America or the Amazon), but it is highly recommended. You cannot get immunizations for dengue though, so be sure to get good advice about avoiding mosquito bites if you are going to tropical areas such as the Amazon or Iguassu.

50 lb. checked luggage weight limit on domestic flights in Brazil. Not sure about Argentina.
