mdeane Posted October 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2012 Any advice from anyone please. I am sailing on freedom of the seas in July 2013 with my husband who is wheelchair bound. We are diamonds but have not sailed since his stroke. A bit apprehensive.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted October 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2012 Hi, Welcome back. As you will be bringing your own wheelchair it is really important that you let RCCL know what your needs are likely to be. They are extremely supportive. You can email them : special_needs@rccl.com note the underscore. You should also let your TA know if you booked through them so that your booking can be noted. Have you booked an adapted room? Havin'fun Posted October 26, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2012 You may want to ask this question on the Disabled Cruise Travel board, they are very helpful there. As mentioned above, if you do not have an accessible room booked, you may want to call and see if one is available.
cb at sea Posted October 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2012 You MUST book a HC cabin, if he's unable to walk at all...a standard cabin will not allow a wheelchair into the bathroom, if it even fits through the doorway of the cabin!
