Luxuriate Posted November 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Will they be selling the "inch of gold" chains on the three-day Ensanada cruise on Inspiration? I have some charms that I'd like to get inexpensive chains for. I've only been on one other Carnival cruise and don't remember if they had what I think is a "cruise ship staple". Thanks. iuki Posted November 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2012 Every cruise I've been on offered the "inch of gold." I've had my neckless for several years now, and it has never tarnished.
firefly333 Posted November 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I have never been on a cruise on Princess, Carnival or RCL that they did not have this.. including a 3 day cruise.
Cruise-Crazy Posted November 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2012 It will be there. You can take them back on your next cruise and exchange them for new ones after they turn green. :D
jmcancruise Posted November 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2012 They have always had them on cruises i have been on. Mine still look fine.

Room Service! Posted November 1, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 1, 2012 My daughter's "gold' left a ring around the ankle. My silver held up fine. Wore it a few years.
mikesteg Posted November 1, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I'd suggest Ebay. You can most likely get something less expensively (or much less expensively) from a seller with a 99% positive feedback rating from 10s of thousands of sales. Plus you can get it when you want it and probably from a large selection. And you can spend that 10 or 15 minutes on the pool deck instead. :D
abbygail Posted November 1, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I wear my silver bracelet almost daily, it still looks new! Although I do take it off before showering. :)
MichelleChell Posted November 1, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 1, 2012 I agree try to find something on Ebay first. I call it Inch of Crap and my husband and I kinda laugh at the poor souls buying it.
kicia Posted November 2, 2012 #11 Share Posted November 2, 2012 As long as you know it's not really gold - not 14k, 18k or even 10k gold - and you're just looking for a cheap piece of costume jewelry - then you're good to go. Yes, I've seen it on every cruise I've ever been on.
LOVECRUISING100% Posted November 2, 2012 #12 Share Posted November 2, 2012 I've also seen it on every cruise I've been on .. Good Luck!! My sisters broke within 2 weeks of wearing hers .. : (
SadieN Posted November 2, 2012 #13 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Inch of Gold was being sold last January and February on the Inspiration. The 'silver' chains were more expensive than the real stuff in the jewelry stores in Ensenada.

golfadj Posted November 2, 2012 #16 Share Posted November 2, 2012 It is very cheap stuff and after the stories we have heard amazed that people keep coming back for more.
Godiva5 Posted November 2, 2012 #17 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Inch-o-crap it definately is! My daughter and I cruised on RC several years ago and I bought anklets for both of us. Both tarnished very quickly. Save your money, spend a bit more on the front end for 10K or sterling and, enjoy for years to come. How do they STILL get away with selling that garbage.......I'll never know! I agree try to find something on Ebay first. I call it Inch of Crap and my husband and I kinda laugh at the poor souls buying it.

They know most of these people are first timers who dont know better and the concessions on the ship laugh all the way to the bank.
adamt Posted November 2, 2012 #19 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Bought one of these for my mom in 98. She still has it and it's never tarnished and still looks brand new.
ShellLoves2cruise Posted November 2, 2012 #20 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Every cruise I've been on offered the "inch of gold." I've had my neckless for several years now, and it has never tarnished. I have a couple pieces I purchased back in 2007 that have tarnished and I believe they had a lifetime guarantee to not tarnish. My question is I do not have my receipt but plan to take the jewelry with me on my cruise leaving tomorrow, do you think they would replace them for me if they do indeed have the lifetime warranty I think I remember? It's no big deal if not but I would like to get them replaced if they will.
golfadj Posted November 2, 2012 #21 Share Posted November 2, 2012 Bought one of these for my mom in 98. She still has it and it's never tarnished and still looks brand new. Is that because she never wears it???
adamt Posted November 3, 2012 #22 Share Posted November 3, 2012 No, in the last 14 years, she's never worn the braclet/necklace combo that I purchased for her. That's the trick to keep that stuff looking pristine. Troll.
libtrek Posted November 3, 2012 #23 Share Posted November 3, 2012 "JUST to take it back"? Sure you are. ;) LOL. We use this same reasoning to go on a cruise every year to restock our vodka cabinet.
jonathansburden Posted November 3, 2012 #24 Share Posted November 3, 2012 I had horrible luck with mine, after about 2 weeks it turned green and I developed a bumpy, red rash on my neck. Ive got a nice, local jeweler we go to now :)

I've had my bracelet for years, and it still looks great. No tarnish at all. I think it is a good buy, and really looks like real gold. Not like the costume jewelry sold in stores.
