Daijayx2, When are you going on your cruise? These Cabins were not finished yet when we were on this past week... There were some folks that got upgraded to these about two weeks ago and got a call Sat telling them they had to cancel there cruise after they were in Nola needless to say it wasnt a plesant day for them or Carnival when they got done lol...
We were very nearly caught in the middle of this fiasco involving the two new suites. Here is how it happened.

On Sunday or Monday before we sailed on the 28th we received a call from a Carnival PVP named Matt Abata. He described the new suites as being called "Captain's Suites". He emailed us drawings of the suites and they are really huge. There are two of them and each takes up half of the very front of Lido deck. They contain a living room with a separate bedroom and two separate bathrooms. The balcony is also huge. He sent us artist's drawings of the suites. To better visualize where they are, just think of them as being the entire deck above the navigation deck. They follow the shape and floor area of the navigation deck.

We were already booked into an Ocean Suite (7228) on Empress deck. It was already a large suite (450 sq feet) because it is a handicapped accessible cabin. Mr. Abata offered to let us upgrade from our current booking to one of the new Captain's Suites for a total of $1,060 for the two of us with no increase in daily gratuities or fees over what we were scheduled to pay for the Ocean Suite. He told us that the new suites had just been built during the dry dock that was still going on in Freeport and that the suites had just been released into inventory one or two days before he called us. We thought it over for a few minutes but finally decided to stick with our original booking. We thanked Mr. Abata for his offer and he gave us his direct number and said that we could call him back if we changed our minds.

On Saturday the 27th we had repositioned to Slidell for a quick run into New Orleans the next morning. That evening, I read, in this forum, the first horror story about the new suites not being finished and that at least one family had had their reservation and cruise cancelled by Carnival after they had already arrived in New Orleans. We felt very badly for that family and were relieved that Carnival had not talked us into the same trap.

My only real complaint with Carnival is that they left the notification of the non-availability of the suites so late. Our cabin was only two decks below and about 25 feet aft of the port side Captain's suite in question. The whole week of our cruise we could see and hear major construction going on in that suite from our balcony. By the time Conquest was ready to leave Freeport on Thursday morning, Carnival certainly knew that those suites could not possibly be finished in time for the cruise on Sunday. Waiting until the last second to cancel the room reservations caused the affected family a lot of unnecessary disappointment and inconvenience.
