I heard about the new storm .. being the news junkie I am. I hope it stays well offshore.

I really hate the not having electricity part after hurricanes when I lived in Florida .. you do seem to be taking things so well. Im glad you at least finally found a hotel room for a couple of nights.

Just keep picturing those guys burgers :D

I KNOW you are ready for a cruise... come on.. time to cruise.

Ackkkk!!! That would be terrible!! I'm sailing 2/17/13 so I REALLY hope they have them finished by then.

There was a thread about these cabins .. and a link to where Carnival posted that these cabins were not scheduled to be finished until Nov 17th, they were released to be booked by accident.

Nov 17th is well before your cruise date.. no worries.

Where are the cabins located that are not completed? Can anyone tell me where to find the link pertaining to this. I sail this Sunday 11/12 We are in a regular inside room on deck 8 forward 8222...does anyone know if these cabins are okay. Wow, would I be disappointed if they cancelled my cruise :(

I think just a handful of a new cabin style for Conquest.

Why are you talking about them cancelling your cruise.. I must have missed something??? huh?? The thread where someone had been upgraded by accident to the new scenic OVs got their cruise cancelled. Carnival finally gave them a full refund, a free cruise in the future I believe.

The scenic OVs, two cabins did not get finished.. new categories that did not exist before and are being converted. Look on the deck plans, a higher deck, maybe 10 or 11? all the way in the front of the ship.

Inside cabins are a dime a dozen..not sure why you are worried. They are not a new category. No building necessary. There would be nothing they are doing that would require weeks of work to already existing categories/cabins.

I am unfamiliar with the upgrades and which rooms were changed, that is why I am asking. Thanks for the input. It was mentioned on an earlier thread that a couple were cancelled due to being near the new cabins due to water issues. Because the cruise was fully booked they were escorted off the ship. Just do not want to miss my cruise! Thanks again.

I had not heard about the water issues.. and I thought I had read every thread.. but could have missed this.

I do know that the family who couldnt cruise that I read about got a full refund and a free cruise in the future. .. though there were kids involved who were looking forward to spending halloween on the cruise and had the costumes ready etc.

If it happened to me .. I would be ok with a free cruise and money back.. but with the kids.. I still felt bad for them.

Im looking forward to seeing the ship with the new stuff .. saw her the end of Sept.. so this being so close the changes will be even more welcome for me. No special cabin booked for me. :( .. wish I had one of the new ones myself.. but Conquest will be decorated for christmas .. looking forward to that.

Firefly 333~FYI

We boarded Conquest on Sunday only to find our inside cabin "uninhabitable". The new forward cabins under construction on Deck 9 had a plumbing problem a couple of days prior that caused flooding to nearby cabins. The stench in our room was stifling and nauseating. It needed treatment with a blower and ozone machine but would take a day or two to "fix". The ship was overbooked and could not accomodate us so we were kindly escorted off the ship. Unfortunately, the only pic I have is us in the parking lot watching the ship sail away without us!

I just returned from the 1st sailing on Conquest post 2.0 & really if you had not heard about the upgrades, you would not have noticed that they just returned from a major drydock. Other then a few missed paint spots, some wires for light fixtures, fuzzy shedding new carpets, and the technical problems with "The Brits" production, there were no obvious problems. (I dont know anything about the new cabins). There is no more mongolian wok or sushi. The sushi bar was replaced with the "Taste Bar" which offers a taste, small appetizer of 2 menu items from a different venue each night. Its on the 5th promenade deck. The fish & chips place is still upstairs from main lido buffet. We ate breakfast & 1 lunch at the Iguanna cafe burrito bar-yummy! And I saw chips there. We went to the comedy brunch twice. Its held on the at sea days & the menu was good, comedy okay but not all seats have a view of the comic for the 10 minute routine on the hour. On port days, regular breakfast in the dining room was fine. And the coffee is better in the dining room.

We enjoyed "The Brits" & a special show of "The Flying Scottsman" who performed a 40 minute high energy rock & roll show. With the addition of the Blue Iguana & the Red Frog Frog Rum Bars on the lido deck, the smoking area has been moved to deck 10. So no more smoking on Lido deck anymore. The Guys Burgers were great although I prefer the skinny fries from the Fish & Chips place. The EA sports bar has nice TV screens but is the same size & place as previous sports bar. The Alchemy bar is where the wine bar was & is now much more open. We did not attend any of the comedy shows in the Degas Aft Lounge. We also did not watch any movies on the big screen as they were really old movies: Honey I shrunk the Kids among others. Some newer movies would have been nice. We had early dining and I must say the food was better then on previous cruises. First time I've had good prime rib on Carnival. The service on the Conquest was excellent as well, from room stewards to dining room wait staff. My hubby told the matre d Shawn that he missed indian food Tandoori Grill so on the last night he specially made up some chicken curry & indian vegis that were really good. I know I've prob left some stuff out & I'll be posting Queenie's pics soon. It was a great cruise & I'm ready to book the Conquest for next years halloween cruise. Any questions????

Can anyone clarify what remains to be completed of the dry dock upgrades? One poster said "a lot of the upgrades are not finished" and another said "no obvious problems". Can you give some specifics?

We sail this Sunday and I'm getting a little apprehensive that we will be on an unfinished ship with workmen hammering and getting not quite the experience we are hoping for....

We thought that by going on the third sailing after dry dock, all the kinks would be worked out?

Thanks for any replies!
What about waterworks? Does conquest have it.
No, conquest class does not have waterworks, though it has a nice slide.

All but two fantasy class have waterworks, and dream class all 3 ships. not sure about splendor as Ive not been on her.

The Deli is still there on the side of Lido. I'm pretty sure there is no more Mongolian Wok. I do not think there is any more sushi either. I think the Taste Bar took place of Sushi.
The lido aft pool is still pretty quiet & has a bar, Pizza Pirate & another grill that they only use late night. Saw hot dogs & I think grilled cheese sandwiches there late several nights. Even got to hear some live zydeco back there one eve. All the ice cream & yogurt machines were working & had cones or bowls.
Choc buffet on lido on last sea day from 11 to 1 I think. The melon in melted choc was really good.
Really there are no obvious problems with the drydock. I did see 2 large rolls of carpet wrapped in plastic on an out of the way deck but it was hardly an issue. The Hasbro game shows are not scheduled to start until Dec. All the pools & whirlpools were open & have been refinished or replaced. Hubby used bikes & stairmaster in the gym. Serenity area would still be awesome but there were not many children on this sailing. We really had a great time and did not notice any bad things that were drydock related. AND NO CHAIRHOGS ever!!!!!!
Appreciate your reponse....and feeling less stressed about it, thanks to you! Thanks for the quick answer! :)
No problem. I'm trying to contain myself from booking next years' Halloween cruise on the Conquest until after the New Year. As I look through Queenie's photos of this cruise I realize just how much I'm looking forward to Sargent Schultz's new photos next month as I did not capture any of the upgrades and although I really enjoyed the food, I did not take any pics. Oh and the shrimp coctail was on the menu every night & was great! I really should just write a review :p
