HAMMY99 Posted November 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Hello, I am debating weather I should book an excursion in Grand Caymans through the ship or an outside vendor. There is a huge price difference between the two, so I am leaning towards the outside vendor, but I was wondering how it would work with the tenders. I read that people who book an excursion through the ship get off the ship first, while all others have to wait in looooooooong lines... So in terms of convenience I was thinking that the ship might be better.... any suggestions? I was going to book through my TA in Canada (affiliated with expedia) who uses Shore Trips and Shore Excursions Group, so I am assuming that in case of bad weather it should be easy to obtain a refund? Anybody used them before? Also, is it worth going on the catamaran versus a regular boat?
cb at sea Posted November 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2012 I think it depends on exactly WHICH excursion/activity you are considering! More info, please!
HAMMY99 Posted November 9, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted November 9, 2012 I think it depends on exactly WHICH excursion/activity you are considering! More info, please! I am looking at the Stingray City and One Snorkel stop in Grand Cayman. The cruise ship price is $79, Shore Trips price is $60 and Shore Excursions Group is $49. I was leaning towards teh Shore Excursion group, but I am not sure if they are using a catamaran or not....

There webpage should tell you what they use for transportation. If I don't see the info , I personally would look else where.

blue_water Posted November 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2012 A cat is a better experience than a powerboat in my opinion. I would look at the Fat Fish Adventure jet ski excursion (here and on tripadvisor) if that interests you. Excellent tour and great outfit. Also well-regarded by locals. They work with your tender times and are not that far from the dock.
girlscruise2011 Posted November 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2012 I am using Stingray Sailing dot com for my excursion in a few weeks. They have a cat, the price was reasonable and someone on my rollcall has used them numerous times and gave them a great review. I was sold. Check them out
