Questions About Blu

DH and I will be on Silhouette in Jan. and will be in Aqua Class. We are having dinner the first night in Tuscan Grille. Do we need to let the maitre d' in Blu know we won't be dining there that night?

Also we will be traveling as a party of two. In Blu do we have the option of sitting at a larger table and making new friends (like in MDR) or do we always just sit at a table for two?

No need to tell them. You will be seated by yourselves generally unless you find other people that want to dine with you. Most tables for two are close together, so it is still possible to interact with others.

You do not need to let them know as Gonzo said however it might not be a bad idea to stop and introduce yourself to the Maitre'd in Blu and explain that you will be eating in Tuscan the first night. It is always nice to be courteous and your actions may lead to better treatment the rest of the cruise.

Last spring we did B2B cruises in Aquaclass which meant that we spent thirty-one nights in Blu. While the bulk of the tables are small tables for two there are several tables set for groups. Our experience was that these larger tables are meant for groups traveling together and are not the "group" tables as in select dining. The hubby and I always meet folks on cruises, and enjoy dining with our new friends. We had no problems dining with our new friends at tables for four or six in Blu without reservations or any other prior arrangements.

Thanks for all of your input. This cruise coming up will only be cruise #3 for us, bur first one on X. It seems some things are universal to cruising, but there are also many differences from line to line (i.e., Aqua Class and Blu). Anyway, thanks.

hint: when you get to your stateroom, there will be a note inviting you to dinner in Blu at either 6:00 or 8:30, whichever you signed up for in their reservation system which required you to pick something to

make the reservation due to Celebrity's terrible computerized billing system. If you picked select, thinking that blu was anytime dining so that was the correct choice, the only thing that accomplished was to trigger celebrity's billing system to bill you for your gratuities with your final payment which a) isn't required in Aqua and b) has no relevance as to when you eat or which dining room you eat in....if you are in Aqua, you are assigned to Blu and anytime dining no matter what anyone tells you.

Just ignore that letter...you may go for dinner in Blu anytime you want, even on the first night. I recommend showing up at 7:15-7:30 because the first diners will be just finishing.
