Timing question

We are in St. Thomas from 11am until 7pm. We have a St. John's Catamaran tour (through CCL) booked that's advertised as running from 12:30pm-5pm .. some reviews say it's not quite that long.

My question is - will we still be able to cab it up to Paradise Point for the view? Even if the time advertised is accurate, will 2 hours be enough time to get a cab up there, spend 20 minutes or so, and then cab it back? (We don't want to do the tram, but want to see the view)

Part of me thinks it's plenty of time but another part of me is having visions of running down the dock for the ship that's leaving us :)

IF we have enough time to do this, is it best to go by cab or rent a car?

If your ship docks at Havensight and you're back by 5:00pm this should be do-able. Don't go all the way back to your ship, get out at the entrance to Havensignt, grab a cab to take you up, have them wait, and then bring you back to your ship. Also check if your ship will keep LOCAL time - most Carnival ships don't...if not, remember that ships' time is one hour BEHIND St. Thomas time. Have fun!

St. Thomas does not observe Daylight Savings Time; during that period, when it's 12:00pm in St. Thomas, it is 11:00am on the East Coast. Since many of the Carnival ships sail from Florida, they stay on Miami time. The Victory sails from San Juan, so she keeps local time. The OP may actually be in port from 12:00pm-8:00pm LOCAL time and since it's up to the individual Captain's discretion, always best to check before getting off the ship.
