Need some help....

Trying to decide between 2 balcony cabins on the Explorer....

#8320-E-2hump

#8638-D-2

Not sure which one to choose for our Feb 2013 cruise. #8638 is a bit bigger than #8320. But #8320 is on the hump??? Anyone ever sailed in either of these cabins? What are your opinions????

Thanks.

We had 8320 on the Explorer this past Oct 7. Great location. The cabin is so close to the elevators but we never heard a sound. The balcony is the hump that is furthest out from the ship. Fantastic view. I would stay in 8320 again in a second.

Don't think you can go wrong with either. Always say I will book hump but always wind up booking a D2 for the little extra room.

We are on the 2/1/13 sailing and we have cabin # 6620...I think they said it was the furthest out on the hump and we have never had a hump room before we are really looking forward to the view...anyone know if this location is ok on Explorer??

We were on LOS sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale last month. It was our first hump cabin. All I can say is "LOVED IT", "LOVED IT"...We were right next to the elevators (no noise). Get off elevator and be at Windjammers on deck 11 also on the Promonade deck on 5 adjacent to guest relations desk, Casino also close. We were in the cabin 6340 which is farther out than other hump cabins on that deck. You won't be disappointed in a hump cabin..

Great location and great view. This balcony juts out further than all the other balconies. No view obstructions at all.

Only 1 minor caveat. People can see right into your cabin from thec deck 6 lobby when you open the door. just give your roomie time to get decent or hide when you open the door and people are standing in the deck 6 atrium lobby. Not a biggie but since you are so wonderfully close to the elevators it can happen.

If there are only two people in the room I would definitely choose the hump. There isn't really much difference bewtween E and D rooms in regards to size, maybe 1 foot or so lengthwise I believe. In fact I don't think most people would even notice except I think in most cases the E has a "loveseat" size sofa while the D has a full size. Hump location can't be beat!

yes, just be aware that the balconies on Deck 6 of the Explorer are metal most of the way up instead of glass. If you go to cruiselinerooms dot com and click on Explorer and look at room 6362 you will be able to see what the balcony looks like as opposed to the balconies on decks 7 and higher (see balcony on room 7328).

Which cabins is this true for, and is it only true for Deck 6, or the other deck hump cabins as well?

We didn't see that this was the case on the Mariner - there was a wall the separated the lobby area.

Can we have the partitions opened on the balcony? From what I have seen on the pictures, some are metal and some are plastic? Any info will help. Thank you.

None of the balconies on Explorer have partitions, they are all metal and cannot be opened.

The door for 8320 is in plain view from the centrum and when the cabin door is open people can see righht into your cabin. Not a biggie but it is something people should be aware of.

We are booked in 7618 for a cruise next year.. looking at the deck plans, I can see what you're talking about for the 20's... Are we going to have the same problem with our cabin?

You should be just down the hall from the opening to the centrum. We recently had 9618 and it's door was not visible from the centrum.

Not an isssue with your door. Only with 8320 and the corresponding cabin on the other side.
