Townsvilles new Cruise Terminal

Recommended Posts

How is that going to work?

Must admit looking at the first pic I just thought that twirly thing was part of some industrial complex as it sort of blended into the warehouse to its right and the conveyor belts.

If the ship ties up on the side of the picture, the channel ( where the little boat is) does not look wide enough for a large ship for example the Solstice is 30 odd metres wide and the VOS wider than that. If a ship pulls in it doesn't look wide enough to turn and go back out..unless its pulled out ar*e first...or is it just my lack of knowledge of theareaand the pic doesn't display the real width??

I think the actual berths are on the other side from this picture.

Its a massive expansion they are undertaking and when finished will be able to handle large cruise ships and Naval vessels.

The terminal has been designed to become iconic and as passengers come ashore they will be met by the soaring steel sails of the roof and get views of Magnetic Island and Castle Hill.

It will sure get the jump on Cairns as a cruise hub.

I think you might be right. When we were on the Pacific Sun we berthed in Townsville, and it was 'around the corner' on the side of the container wharf that faces the ocean. Maybe that is where ships will berth at the new terminal.
