hondorner Posted December 31, 2012 #26 Share Posted December 31, 2012 ...on R ships if you keep away from the two allotted areas. No problem. Hopefully this would be the same on the O ships. Even better on the O ships, as the area in Horizons Lounge is mostly enclosed by a glass wall. I'd hate to be inside that wall, of course. The only other time we've been bothered by smokers on an Oceania ship is when we get close to a smoker, say on an elevator, and their clothing reeks. At least that will probably just annoy us, not harm us .
Rare ORV Posted December 31, 2012 #27 Share Posted December 31, 2012 But it would be helpful if you would read what was written if you are going to make comment. BTW I could care less whether you, or anyone else for that matter, smoked cigars or cigarettes, but like others here if you or anyone else infringes on the enjoyment of my holiday by smoking where you are not supposed to, then yes we'll make our views known! I am totally with Lahore on that. I said I was done here but just couldn't pass up noting my amusement at the irony of you telling to read what was written if I was going to comment then you make the next statement about ME or any others smoking where they aren't supposed to when I clearly stated; "But you'll only find me smoking in the places designated for cigars." LOL Please don't lump me in with those that don't have the sense, and or courtesy to smoke where management asks them to. People that do that are a big part of the problem, whether willfully or through ignorance. I feel people on both sides of the issue should know and respect the policies. I'm real big about rules and following them. Thanks

lahore Posted January 1, 2013 #30 Share Posted January 1, 2013 Thank you Fairbourne for the following, which is correct. "My reading of Lahore's post was not that she found "people as vile, nauseating" but rather their smoke!" I don't like to be misquoted or misinterpreted. I did make a nasty cynical joke about people needing somewhere to kill themselves expensively: which is exactly as I see it. Others who have an obvious bias and need to be in denial I suppose in order to keep smoking anything, wouldn't agree. Enough said.
Andy Posted January 1, 2013 #31 Share Posted January 1, 2013 Hi Everyone, As this thread has resulted in several member directed comments, along with a debate about smoking, it's now closed. Thank you for your understanding, and Happy New Year ! For your assistance, the following is Oceania's smoking policy, from their website (Click on the link for their FAQ page) : Can I smoke onboard? For the safety and security of all guests and staff onboard, Designated Smoking Areas are available on Deck 9, the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck, and Deck 10, in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all Staterooms and Suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests chosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck or accomodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and Pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck.
