Taxi or Transfer

Agreed - while you may hear about problems with Departures from San Juan airport I have found that Arrivals and getting a taxi to the ship or hotel is among the best.

Lots of taxis and you know in advance what you will be paying.

The rates from airport to port are set and published?

Yes, You simply walk out of the airport and there will be taxi's lined up. There is a taxi stand where you get a ticket with the price written on it. The cost is per taxi (not per person) and $1 per luggage piece. They don't charge for small bags that you are carrying. You will be directed to the next waiting taxi.

For instance; If there are two of you with two suitcases traveling from the airport straight to the ship, you will pay a total of $19 plus $2 for your bags (plus a tip, of course).

Even on a really busy day, you should be in a taxi and on your way in a matter of minutes. If you take a transfer, you'll have to find out where to wait for your bus and then wait for it to fill up. You'll also pay a per person charge which is likely more than the cost of a taxi for your entire party.

The taxi fee's are determined per zone, and are also posted on every taxi. It is a very well run system. Most drivers speak some, but not fluent English. I've never had a problem communicating with them.

Thank you for filling in the blanks. :)
