Renting out Chops or other specialty restaurant

Anyone have any experience in renting out a specialty restaurant one evening? We're thinking about a possible on-board wedding and we don't like the wedding packages offered and thought we'd see if this was even feasible. I pulled up a thread from 2006/2007, but am curious if anyone has done this recently? If you have done this, how long do you have it for and what is the cost to go this route and what is included in that cost? Many thanks!

Someone posted about trying to do this a while ago on Oasis or Allure. If I remember correctly she had issues such as cost. either it was no discount or possibly cost more. The major problem is that it would have had to been staggered seating as they could not accommodate all of the guests at once since the kitchen is set up that way. So even though they rented the entire venue they actually wouldn't get to all eat at the same time. For example the first sitting at 5:30, next group around 7, next group after that for example. They had a large group of people as well, more than 50, maybe 70, but don't quote me. If you search the RC pages you might find it and it was maybe 6-9 months ago.

Others should chime in as well. Hope this helps a bit.

Andrew

Hi Im hoping to do the same, however rather than renting the whole restautant we're just booking a table for 12!

It is possible to hire the whole thing depending on numbers but it is expensive!! Try this forum:

I'm sorry, back up a second. You are planning on having your wedding celebration in Chops while others are attempting to enjoy a rather intimate environment?

12 of us will be having our evening meal in Chops! Our wedding ceremony and drinks will be held privately, however we wanted something different from the MDR for our wedding day! There's 12 of us not hundreds!

We were in Portofino once - I think it was on Explorer - and they had a long table set up at the back of the room for a wedding party of about 15-20 people. They did not disturb the other diners at all. Hope it works out for you.

We were in Portofino and the same thing..a large table for a wedding party.

They were loud and boisterous for the entire meal. One guy, the best man?..kept getting up and proposing toasts..as the meal went on and he drank more the toasts got rather...intimate?

It really was a bad time for the rest of us trying to have a nice quiet dinner..the waiter apologized profusely for the constant disturbances but the evening was ruined.

Well fear not- one of the reasons for getting married abroad and avoiding the traditional way is because we don't want best men and bridesmaids galore. It's just us, our parents and siblings. There may one or two toasts but no grand speeches, and therefore I'm sure our meal will not disrupt the other diners!!

It is exactly what she implied actually:

She was quite clear in fact.

Nope. The original poster of this thread mentioned having her wedding in Chops. Then, Gina said "Im hoping to do the same" implying she also wanted to have her wedding in Chops, not just a dinner.

Obviously you stopped reading after the comma, rather than pausing and continuing to read because, she has a "however" and then states she will only have 12 people for dinner. She was quite clear in fairness to her.
