Hampton Brickell or Intercontinental

My wife and I are trying to decide between the Hampton Brickell or the Intercontinental for a pre-cruise one night stay. We will be arriving around noon on a Friday, and would like to do more than sit by the pool.

Mobility is no issue, we have been to Bayside on a previous visit to Miami.

Any thoughts?

My choice is Hampton Inn, for the simple fact that it is in an area that is much more fun than the IC. Its also newer, and transportation options are a super short walk away.

If you miss the bayview from the IC, get a cup of coffee in the morning and take a walk on Brickell Bay Drive, awesome sunrises.

The IC though IS a four star hotel, and I give them huge props on the new high tech lobby.

Cheers!

The Hampton Inn is about the same price as the Intercontinental (at least for the dates I looked). I'm sure it's a good (3 star) hotel in a good location, but for the same price, I'd take the 4 star Intercontinental. It's still a Hampton Inn, and it would take some savings over a 4-star hotel before I'd choose it.
