Special perks for 10th cruise w/Carnival

Has anyone received perks w/Carnival on their 10th cruise like rm. upgrade to balcony in last 6 months?

Not me. Just the normal Platinum stuff like the gift, strawberries, etc.

The perks, few as they are, are based on days sailed, rather than number of cruises.

You get a onetime room upgrade when you become DIAMOND, 200 days at sea.

Yeah. I'm not there yet...free laundry and the fact that you are on a cruise and you are gonna be in before the deadline. Unlike me. But i have connections. Enjoy.

Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason how they give upgrades or upsells. # of cruises doesn't seem to matter. I book guar. a lot and other than upgrade to a different deck, nothing. Got upgraded several time on RCCL.

It is still # of cruises (10) for Platinum status till 12/31/13. Then it becomes days sailed.

But not for the upgrade perk that the OP is talking about...That's only a one time perk for Diamond level passengers.

 

Upgrades for reaching Platinum level have never been part of the loyalty program, and since they have changed to Upsell and changed most of the rate plans to GTY cabins, I haven't heard of the Upgrade fairy calling anyone in a long time.

 

I've been Platinum since 2007 and have only been upgraded one time.
