Mrs Booboo Posted January 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2013 It appears there is a company called Rent-a-Car at the Le Havre cruise ship port - has anybody used them recently? Is the office actually at the terminal, or do they just meet you there with a car? How were the prices? Are they open when the ship docks? We will be arriving in Le Havre on a Thursday at 7:00 AM. Rare Hlitner Posted February 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2013 The last time we were in LeHavre (about a year ago) they had a counter right inside the cruise terminal building and kept cars at the port. We walked over to look at their prices and thought they were a bit expensive, but probably worth the money since they were so darn convenient (we did not rent a car that day). On other cruises to Le Havre we have rented cars but always used a taxi to get to the rental car office. Hank
Pastordonna Posted February 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2013 Thanks Hank! Yes, I went onto their site and thought they were expensive too!
beach bunnie Posted February 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2013 We're rented from them twice. The cost was about 85 euros -- that includes everything. It was really easy and convenient. They are not there all the time. Let them know when you're bringing the car back and they'll be there. Just email to make a reservation or with questions. le_havre@rentacar.fr
dog Posted March 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2013 yes, we used them last May. great, right in terminal. not much else there. be there right away and prebook online. many people were disappointed they couldn't just walk in and get one. they didn't have many. $cost was worth it. check payment/insurance . cruising cockroach Posted March 11, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2013 That €85 rate may be a bit expensive but isn't too bad for France if the car is bigger and has an auto transmission which are rare and expensive in Europe (only gotten an AT twice (as an upgrade) and once, the car rental agent asked a few times if it was o.k.). Could try the main SNCF station (usual location for car rentals) though not sure how far that is from the port.
ROCruiser Posted March 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 12, 2013 We also rented from them but I don't remember what we paid for. Very convenient though, right at the port.
